Hi guys
I just wanted to come here to say that I find Callista really underrated (this level of hatred towards the character is beyond me) and that I think she and Luke were the most compatible of all the relationships he's had
I also loved her early friendship with Leia
Far too many missed opportunities with this character (I really wish they'd let Hambly write one or two adventures of Callista post Planet of Twilight)

 

Agreed with all of this. She deserved far better than how she was treated. Her fate in Fate of the Jedi or whatever Del Rey pile of ((&$%& book series angers me something fierce.

Someone in the ‘Luke Skywalker’ group on FB posted a pic of him with Mara, and one person responded thusly:
“I didn't think her conversion to the light made sense, and I couldn't trust her. It seemed to me she was just waiting for the next Big Bad to follow. She's with the Rebels/New Republic because the Sith are gone as far as she knows. I've fought with my cousin (the other big SW person in my family) before over this. She feels I'm hypocritical because I like a reformed villain character from another franchise. Mara's redemption doesn't feel earned to me. I need her to make a speech and explain her change of heart, and I need her to do something to prove it, which I never saw in the Heir to the Empire or its two sequels.”
Give me Callista over Mara any day!

Part of me wishes she'd have been brought over. But I know they'd mess her up.

 

Totally. It would have been amazing to see her in action, and if they gave her a yellow lightsaber as well.

 

I really liked Callista's characterization in No Prisoners
For all the things I hated about Traviss' sw books her take on Callista clearly wasn't one of them

Agreed. Callista should have gotten more to do in general, though. Lots of potentiality. I think she was depowered somewhat, frankly. Not like she should be overpowered, but I think she could have resisted Abeloth more than she was portrayed as doing..if that makes sense. Like, she couldn't have gotten her out on her own, but she and Luke alone could have done so. Frankly, I think that Abeloth should have been only as powerful as both the Son and Daughter. She shouldn't have been more powerful than all three of the original Ones. I would have preferred if Callista and Luke ended her.

It's not that I don't like the notion of Krayt and Luke working together. I think that Krayt was too forgone even by that juncture. But that's just me. A younger Krayt would have been willing to help Luke.

Yay. The page can go out and get its driver's license!

 

So I started it. This past weekend, I opened up my laptop, opened up 'Children of the Jedi', and Disney-fied it (new Universe). Plot is the same: takes place a bit after RoTJ, but instead of Triv Pothman, lone stormtrooper, Luke and Co. run into Clone Trooper Triv.
'Eye of Palpatine', Callista, and the trapped aliens will remain in place, but the story is altered to reflect this new version of the universe. I'll try and post some pages soon, so stay tuned.
