Max Scherzer just struck out his 3,000 batter

 

Don't look now, but the Redbirds are showing a spark of life.

They don't have the arms to do squat in a series, but in a one game playoff and Wainwright on the mound...no one wants to deal with that.

 

As great as JV, Scherzer, and Greinke have been, doesn't look like any of them will get to 300 wins. Could be that no one ever gets to 300 wins again, we might have seen the last with Maddox, Glavine, Johnson, and Clemens all getting there around the same time.

 

Yes, but at the same time, the wins stat has been continually downplayed by the baseball elite for 30 years now...Quality Starts will be a marker of more distinction and will get more mention for future starting pitchers headed to the Hall.

No pitcher should have his legacy tarnished because Buck Farmer relieved them and immediately caused a No Decision.

 

i don't want to jinx anything but right now at Dodger Stadium....

I went to bed after his 2nd home run last night. Looks like the game ended well after Midnight as expected. My Mets fan friend suggested Lindor will likely have a target on his back next year for whenever the Yankees play the Mets again.

 

Subway series are not meant to be this eventful. This means the teams are on more or less the same skill level, and the Mets are a .500 team. The Yanks are a true anomaly

 

It's all a matter of perspective. Mets fans are bragging about taking the season series from the Yankees this year; averaging more runs per game against the Yankees than any other team they've played. The Yankees were in a seven-game losing streak which included miserable losses to the mighty Baltimore Orioles (and the Blue Jays can remind you just how 'mighty" they are based on their game yesterday). The Yankees are still well over .500; and if they were in the Mets' division they'd likely easily have a shot at the division.

It's interesting how the tides have turned on Lindor with the Mets fans. He's a certified Yankees' killer for sure; but how has he fared with the rest of the Mets' opponents this year? If you took out his numbers against the Yankees, what do they look like?

 

every time i see Max Scherzer i think of the Diamondbacks. For years i heard about Lou Brock as the worst trade of all time, then Jeff Bagwell for later times.

just saw where Dave Fleming of the Giants broadcast claimed the Dodgers had been hurt by the crackdown on sticky worse than anyone, pointing out Buehler and Urias. Actually not only have their ERA's gone markedly down since then , but so has the Dodger team ERA.

Why show the Division? I thought that's pretty much set in stone (unless Tampa Bay miraculously collapses). The Yankees/Jays/Red Sox are all vying for the WC spots.

 

Depends on if there are any Weeping Angels involved. On the other hand, the Yankees are in New York and there was the incident where the Angels took Manhattan.

 

The more Andrew Heaney pitches, the more chance of blinking in the Bronx.

 

I don't really trust anyone in the Yankees' current rotation all that much not named Nester Cortes....or Gerrit Cole (I guess).
