I knew I’d be excited for this series, but dang it, I am super excited...

It's crazy how much these MCU TV shows look like they have the same budget as Hollywood blockbuster movies. I still remember when superhero TV shows looked like this:

Getting Clint's family out of the picture early on is a very smart move. So much of the charm of the Fraction run hinges on him being so unhinged and alone (with an array of exes), and obviously MCU Clint has a great relationship with his family that the comic iteration doesn't have, so putting them in danger to get rid of them is really the only way they could do it.

Can't wait for that bumbling Clint/Kate dynamic. Their faces better be COVERED in bandages by the time the finale rolls around.

My only nitpick - not enough purple. There should be purple EVERYWHERE in this thing. But I know Marvel is pretty much allergic to any kind of saturated color in their films/shows unless James Gunn is directing, so I was bracing for that.

Tonally though, love this. Oozing Shane Black's buddy dynamic and Matt Fraction/David Aja's brilliant comic, like I posted above. I'm starting to get pretty burnt out on Marvel's formula and am only really excited for a handful of their upcoming releases. This is very much one of them.

 

I can already see this being a Christmas classic

Indeed. There wasn't any particular visual that got me exited but the vibe, the vibe is great! Really like the tone they're going with.

Looks good. Looks like fun.

Will there be overlap where we are getting Hawkeye episodes this December and the Book of Boba Fett in the same week? Disney+ Is seriously upping their game in year 3. I thought Loki and Bad Batch at the same time was a big deal.

 

They will be wearing purple...

Fun fact, my wife and I know which theater that is -- it's diagonally-opposite the Richard Rodgers theater (where Hamilton) is. Currently Tina: The Tina Turner Musical is playing there (Lunt-Fontanne theater).
