Actually, Hailee’s is very vibrant in real life. I’d wear her jacket in a heartbeat...(if they make them this vibrant, I’m in.)

Yes, Clint’s is muted...and the trailer makes Kate’s top look muted, but it’s really not.

Fingers crossed, but so far even in the daytime shots in the trailer it is pretty comparatively muted thanks to the show's color grade, vs how it looks in those raw BTS stills.




It's sad, but also, par for the course at this point. After all, this is a universe where even Spider-Man's bright, in-your-face red suit is murky as well.




It's something that just has to be rolled with at this point when it comes to MCU stuff, unfortunately. Marvel clearly has some reason for grading almost all of their films/shows like this (with the Russos' films perhaps the worst offenders of them all), but it's making them money so they certainly aren't going to stop with it any time soon. On this particular show, I'm going to roll with it (while begrudgingly voicing these complaints, of course) because I'm really in love the tone that the trailer is selling me on, the casting, the beats from the comic, etc. Everything else is very much working for me here. I just really wish that Marvel was willing to take more visual risks and diverge more from their tepid house style.

 

@bstnsx704 I wonder if they did that so her costume is the same muted purple as Clint’s was in the Fraction/Aja comic?

I love the bold colors of her actual jacket though and hope we might see that somewhere in the series.

You do have a point about the toned down MCU color palette.

Something else I find great: the close caption is turned on here in a nod to accessibility; especially in the introduction of Alaqua Cox -who is deaf irl- as deaf vigilante Echo and to Clint’s hearing loss. I’m really looking forward to “meeting” Echo.

Also, is Ronin the first vigilante in the MCU? I forget. If Ronin was, Perhaps

On the subject of Ronin, I am excited to see Echo as that character, and how Kate’s fake Ronin brings Clint into her life.

Oddly enough, when I saw Rogers the Musical, I thought of Rodgers and Hammerstein. Then I thought if Loki was DB Cooper, maybe someone from Asgard could have been Hammerstein and that person chose that last name to honor Mjolnir.

 

That fits.

 

If you wanna go with Marvel being Marvel I won't necessarily quibble but in this case, if you're inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt, you can at least land on them choosing a color grading that lines up with the muted tones of the Matt Fraction/David Aja comics run.

Yah I wasn't expecting a Christmas show but I'm very okay with it. Any chance it'll end on New Year's Eve which would be around the time when the last episode lands.

Now I'm okay with them pushing it to late November launch because it hits throughout the Christmas season. Although the overlap between choosing between Book of Boba Fett and Hawkeye when they will literally land on the exact same time will kill me. C'mon Disney, push one of them to a Tuesday or a Thursday.

 

The trailer made me very happy, as it has shades of the Matt Fraction Hawkeye comic book series.

I would happily welcome more of Jeremy as Clint! Hailee would almost be a given as she’s just starting in the MCU…

 

Reposting, Disney+ will offer the first two episodes of Hawkeye on November 24th!

 

That leaves 29-Dec for just Book of Boba Fett then it seems.

 

And -possibly- a Ms. Marvel launch in January since that show is in the can too.

Interesting that the background arrow is pointed down, not up. I smell symbolism.

 

The purple down arrow was used a lot in during the Fraction / Aja run, in fact the purple down arrow is part of Clint’s costume from that comic run (Again, wearing my Hawkeye shirt with Aja’s purple arrow right now). Arrowdynamic, if you will. I think it was more of a graphic design choice than any symbolism.
