Now that I've had a week or so to absorb everything:

It took me a few episodes to get into it because I think I was still caught up on trying to work things into canon even though I knew better. Once I got over that though I really enjoyed the ride. I would have liked a few episodes that maybe didn't focus on the Jedi and lightsabers, but given that it was an anime collection I can see how those elements were low hanging fruit. Hope to see more in the future.

The top 3 will definitely live long in my memory, such captivating images and stories.

 

Talk about a terrible hot take.

What is it about Akakiri that places it as your second favourite? I haven’t seen many people rank it that high so I’m curious.

 

I just really enjoyed the animation, the strangeness of it (including the off-kilter music), the world of the episode (not least the mounts and the masked enemies), the unique almost Mayan god villain, and the Frodo takes the Ring/ What if Anakin resurrected Padme, ending. Felt like the boldest of the series, and for me, as visually the strongest.

 

Finished watching them all last night. I’m really, really impressed with the show! It was so unique and different. And I hope they continue these stories, or similar stories in the future.

The Ninth Jedi and The Village Bridge were phenomenal. Akakiri and Tatooine Rhapsody were just ok. And all the others were good / great.

 

Just finished the last one! Overall it is a bit o a mixed bag and it is a bit like a box of chocolates - you might not know what you will get hehe But I really enjoyed this project and would definitely be tuning in for Season 2 if it ever happens!

I thoroughly enjoyed the entire series, watching it in 2-3 sessions.

The individual styles and separate storylines were quite contrasting. I thought there was a good cross-section of anime styles. Story-wise, it was a little Jedi/Sith duel heavy but maybe this was the brief or maybe this appealed to the studios?

in any case, they expanded beyond the saga era which also felt like it made the universe much bigger - canon or not.

I don't like all anime styles and some of these felt like they were more for children - which is fine for a wider SW fan base (just like Droids or Ewoks was), but I would only watch a more adult-style series if one of these studios was commissioned to do one.

But I enjoyed all of them for what they introduced me to anyway.

I would really like another anthology season. An episode per week wouldn't work - no suspense between episodes and they're only short and not connected, so really disposable. But an episode/night, like the original Clone Wars mini-series, would be great IMHO.

I imagine you could go to other countries and different studios for other animation styles and genres of stories.

Why is Lop and Ocho so lowly rated? I thought it was great solid story. Very Star Warsy and Japanese culture at same time

 

I feel the same way about Akakiri, which I think is one of the best, but which most seem to rate near the bottom.

 

Akakiri I didn’t like on first watch. Second watch I rated it a lot higher. I feel like it places nicely in Knight Errant era- grumani sector sith

 

I liked Akakiri. It really nailed the tragedy of the dark side of the force IMO. Like Anakin, it wasn't sought but became a means to an end for someone that couldn't deal with loss.

I’d also like to see a full series order for The Duel’s Ronin and his R5 droid.

 

Also it be our first look into a post ST era galaxy, and we could see familiar characters who are older now. there are six oother jedi out there who might be familair jedi.

 

Or maybe Marvel anime, Disney characters in anime style, and some original anime movies/TV shows...

 

Definitely an Akakiri show.

 

I think Disney has seen the success Netflix has had with its original anime content and Visions was their first little foray into it. What a great start.
