Lit Comics DARK Horse getting Star Wars comics again!

Yeah to be honest if people are really expecting things to be different under Darkhorse I think they are just setting themselves up for disappointment. And not only will they be playing second fiddle to the tv shows and movies but they will also be playing second fiddle to Marvel and Del Rey.

Only expect Darkhorse to carve out a new era if it is along with another publishing initiative like what we are currently seeing with High Republic.

 

I wouldn't be that quick to write DHC off.

 

No, they did not have free reins, in fact every story idea had to go through the story group for approval from what I remember. Randy had a good working relationship with people like Sue Rustoni and stuff that. There stories were very good. Dark Horse will have their mandates and they'll follow them just like they did before. No what rules they have to follow they are going to be good. They did it before for 23 years. Why not again?

 

Huh...on the one hand I am excited to see Dark horse return, even if in a limited capacity....but on the other hand I was really enjoying High Republic Adventures under IDW, so I am curious about what is going to happen with that plotline and those characters.

 

Pretty much goes one of two ways - it concludes soon or continues under DHC. Probably the latter as HR is continuing.

 

Continuing the High Republic was probably a stipulation for bidding on the contract.

 

Cool. Hopefully I'll actually be able to purchase whatever replaces/continues HRA.

 

I’m definitely curious about this, and I would totally love if John and Jan came back for some stories

I also hope it doesn’t interrupt the HRA storyline

 

I hope the art becomes better for the comics with these.

 

As someone who lives in the Uk, I’m hoping these will be allowed in the Uk as digital without me having to jump through hoops with my friend & getting him to access my Comixology account to get the issues.
It is a bit of a faff each time a new series is released.

I haven’t really followed the main Adventures series as I’ve tended to not like the art, but THR Adventures I have enjoyed for the most part - proper all ages stories.
I think people seem to have forgotten the type of stories that can be told for an all ages audience - it just requires the writer to be able to write in layers.

Better accessibility in UK
Better art
A return of some of the old creators - JO/JD/DW

 

I know it won't be like the old days, but I am extremely glad to hear about this Dark Horse news. Extremely glad.

 

So what happened to the chinese venture capital dosh they got a while back?

 

Oh wow, maybe they’ve been struggling.

 

Hard to say. It's likely that chinese funding they got resulted in Sakai taking Usagi Yojimbo to IDW.

 

Twist. Disney just decides to outright buy them making the Star Wars comics question easier on them

 

More likley, Apple, Amazon or Netflix buys them.

 

They're also part of Random House Publishing.

 

I hope that Marvel will still do Star Wars comics as well, if that's possible.

 

Marvel will never lose the license.

 

It will be interesting to see if DH produces any Star Wars comics that I like.

 

Pity... they are ruining a lot despite some good nuggets in the middle of a lot of terrible character ruinations.
