I believe it's a bit of avoiding giving people the heebie jeebies. People have a hard time with blank eyes. Imagine how they'd be with someone completely missing eyes.

 

Mmm well he's a blind guy in a society of people who can see. Miraluka are blind people in a society of other blind people...so there's nobody who would get the heebie jeebies to begin with.

 

Right. When they're home, they can lose the coverings if they want. I was thinking we were talking about going out among the wider universe.
