Mini Series Obi-Wan Kenobi - Part 3 - Discussion Thread (Spoilers Allowed)

I'm starting to wonder if little Luke is going to have any significant screen time.

 

It’s very possible he does not

 

He’s presently safe and on Tatooine with his aunt and uncle. Both of whom we know are alive at the start of ANH. There’s no point just cutting to him randomly as he works on the farm or does school work if Kenobi isn’t there to see him and if he isn’t in danger because it’s ultimately Kenobi’s show. If they do cut to Luke at any time it’s probably a sign he will soon be in danger of some kind, or that Kenobi is back and watching him. Since we know Kenobi is presently with Leia and off Tatooine it seems unlikely we will see child Luke any time soon.

 

Of course Luke is going to get more screentime. If you're worried, consider this: we have barely seen or heard Bonnie Piesse yet--all we've seen is a glimpse, and we vaguely hear her yelling "Luke!" (IIRC). If that was all we were getting from the Beru character, would they have bothered to get Piesse? No. So obviously we're going to see more of Beru. And if we're going to see more of Beru, it stands to reason we'll also see more of Luke.

 

It's just a passing curiosity so calm down.

Obi Wan is keeping his distance at both Owen's behest and his own desire to protect Luke from being discovered by the Inquisitors. I don't expect OWK and Luke to really have much interaction so yes it would probably be a short sequence with Aunt Beru or something.

 

I don’t think we will see much more of Luke. Maybe a little bit in episode 3/4 and then maybe a quick scene in the finale.

The Vecna twist was actually pretty good, didn't see that coming.

 

Maybe while Obi-wan is taking care of Leia, Bail is taking care of Luke? Or at least watching over him and doing secret rebel things?

I like that we're getting half the series over one week, makes it feel more like a "special limited series."

 

That would be good- (if Bail was watching Luke while Obi is with Leia).

Owen " ya whatever, you need to take a leak or why you here".

I expect to see that conference scene in this or next episode. Hopefully we get an answer on the Grand Inquisitor.

Now I want to see Bail dealing with Owen

Bail: But my dear farmer, I don't speak Bocce, I have a protocol droid for that! He speaks over 6 million forms of communication.
Owen: And he speaks Bocce?
Bail: Of course he can! It's like a second language to him.
Owen: Well, then I'd like to meet that protocol droid.
Bail: Perhaps you will some day, farmer! Perhaps you will some day.

though for real, I think it’s genuinely better to release in the evening than the middle of the night. HBO shows release at 8/9pm and get TONS of online hype as folks watch it live together. Seems like a much better approach.

 

I wonder if somebody in Disney/LFL made the call to bump up the premiere for this very reason. After it was shown at special screening in the celebration, the "hype cycle" had begun early.

 

I think the 12pm ET/9pm PT start time was a anomaly because of SW Celebration. Not wanting patrons to walk like zombies at the convention the following morning.

 

Debating whether or not to be a good student and stick to working/studying tonight- or to indulge.

 

Only 70 minutes until canon is shattered as Kenobi and Anakin work out their differences, reunite and decide to raise the twins together with Yoda.

 

I think we're back to a 12am PST release schedule, so it's gonna be another 4 hours...

 

I am not gonna risk it. I have a 9 AM class tomorrow. Going to bed at 1 or 2 isn’t a good idea when trying to wake up at 9
