Mini Series Obi-Wan Kenobi - Part 4 - Discussion Thread (Spoilers Allowed)

I prefer the way it is too. Gave that movie real weight. Shows the price of fighting, And it adds even more urgency to ANH, because we know the sacrifices that were already made obtaining the Death Star plans in the first place. I like it.

Seeing good people die for a good cause is certainly dramatic and therefore very effective. I liked the Rogue One the way it was as well.

 

It had to be done right though

 

I find RO's characters to be a bit cold and I struggled to feel emotional connection toward them, so their death didn't strike me the same way as other deaths in the franchise. Personally, I was sadder for Val, despite her short screentime.

 

Oh my god, meanwhile the deaths of Chirrut and Baze still makes me tear up. And I don't cry at SW movies usually. Not even when Han died. But man, something about that double punch gets me every time.

To bring it back to OWK, Ewan's acting in this show, and his ability to show Kenobi's trauma and vulnerability, has made me love and appreciate the character in a way I never have before. I really can't applaud Ewan enough for his work in the show so far.

Maybe. But I personally think Skarsgaard, Luna and a few other of the actors tied to Andor are on another acting level.

I disagree (vehemently), but understand why you would feel that way. Italians are suckers for melodrama, and RO didn’t deliver on that front.

 

Andor was probably my least anticipated show but based on that trailer I suspect I'm going to like it a lot more than Obi-Wan.

As you already know, I don't talk with you about RO. You have a severe form of RO obsessed syndrome. We went through this before.

Well the one good thing about the free market, which I otherwise despise, is that no one can tell me what to do with my money. I don't work to make suits at Disney richer. And if I can avoid it, I will. I'm not even breaking the law.

Rogue One is great but I definitely don't talk about it often anymore. I find discussions about Solo more interesting these days. It opened up new territory in SW more than Rogue One in my opinion.

And I think this is my main concern with Kenobi right now. I don't think that's the show to open up new narratives and unanswered questions and introduce new characters on which they must focus on a lot.

I would like for Kenobi to be a little more like Rogue One. Focus on Anakin and Obi Wan a lot more in the last 2 episodes, and fill another hole between Episodes 3 and 4.

 

Rogue One, to Kenobi:

 

If anyone insults the character deaths in Rouge One i will aim a death star superlaser at them.

 

Or…Rogue One is objectively a great movie and I am just one of the lucky ones that intuitively understands this law of the universe.
