Corbyn got a bad rap by pretty much all media establishments in the UK.

I didn't agree with all his policies (but I did vote for him) and I don't think he came down anywhere near hard enough on the obvious antisemitism in parts of his party but he was a good man and absolutely did not deserve to be made out to be the left wing boogey man he's been accused of being.

Corbyn and the attacks against him turned him into an unelectable weight around the Labour party. Fingers crossed that Starmer is right and that Johnson is starting to become the millstone around the Tory necks that Corbyn ended up being to Labour.

No 10 spoke to Times before Carrie Johnson story dropped

The Times pulled a story after 1st edition on Saturday about Johnson attempt to manoeuvre then girlfriend Carrie into a £100k job whilst he worked in the Foreign office.

No reason given for it being pulled and the author stands by his story. No 10 initially said they had not spoken to the paper and now it appears they have.

Story still removed, no reason still given.

Not at all shady in any way shape or form nosiree

In more no sh!t sherlock news

Brexit’s Legacy Is Hotter UK Inflation Risk for Years Ahead

A surprise to no one who hasn't had their head in the sand from prior to the referendum

Easiest way to alleviate a large portion of the issue? Rejoin the Single Market.

Suggest rejoining the Single Market (which the majority of vocal and on TV Brexiteers said was just scaremongering and would never happen) means that the previously vocal and on TV Brexiteers said was just scaremongering now say would be the worst thing in the world EVAR and would go against the "Will Of The People"

    In other news

Mick Lynch needs to go into politics. His brutal honesty is refreshing

Compilation of his best bits so far this week

Only significant downside is that he did vote for Brexit :(

Great results that provide a tiny whiff of fresh air while we watch the race with the US to decide which of us is going down the pan quicker.

He is coming across well. That said, I’m an RMT member and he/that union have done nothing for me or my colleagues. Behind the scenes, they are a mess.

    Yep, saw the polling.
However, considering she's asking Boris to do it, it'll never happen unless the polls indicate a crushing defeat for the SNP.

Its being put forwards as an advisory referendum. She loses, then it no real harm. She looks a little stupid but can say that she had to go back to the Scottish people considering Brexit and her mandate with the SNP vote and that not doing so would be to ignore her own manifesto.

She wins and all the pressure is then on Johnson.

The UK's new "Don't you dare protest loudly" laws have kicked in today.
The Tory's wasted no time in cracking down on Steve Bray the anti Brexit protester who's there daily.

    This Morning the warning

Leads to his Amps being seized

    Leads to a court summons

All in less than 8 hours

It may as well have just been call The "Shut Steve Bray up" Bill.

    Disgusting law and disgusting government

At times, I thought Boris Johnson was better than Trump.

Then again...after reading this thread at times...

Meanwhile, head to the BBC Music YouTube channel and take a look at the ton of Glasto vids that just got dropped onto it. All free.

The current government will wreck that if they can.

And to pile on top of the strikes we have pending

UK trade performance falls to worst level on record in first quarter

The weak performance of UK exports and a surge in imports highlight the economic effects of Brexit

    [face_plain]

It acknowledges the increase in energy prices is also a kicker

Samuel Tombs, chief UK economist at Pantheon Macroeconomics, said a surge in energy prices was the main cause of the country’s difficulties.

He echoed former Bank of England governor Mark Carney, who warned repeatedly after the Brexit referendum that the value of the pound depended on the “kindness of strangers”

Gotta love a bit of Brexit in with cost of living challenges a pending trade war and industrial strikes

Well, now we know the actual reason for this one [face_sick] (which we likely never would have if they hadn't tried to suppress the story in the first place). As much as we can joke about it, it's gross misconduct in public office. How much more will it take to get rid of this guy?! And also shameful that our mainstream press and TV news are silent on it.

And this just makes me ashamed to be British. Taking away the right to protest is a massive step on the road to dictatorship.
