Hrm, on second thought maybe "nome a-nore" isn't that outlandish...at least compared to a bunch of his other pronunciations.

I pronounce it as “Nom-a-nor”. With a soft “o” sound. Like mom.

For some reason I always pronounced Tsavong Lah with an active T sound. “Ta-sa-vong”.

I do like that so many of the names are hard to pronounce - feels more alien and like there's a wider galaxy. Even humans have some weird names while others are just "Luke." Again showcasing the wide variety of human culture and history in the GFFA.

My hard case is Zsinj - is it "Zeh-singe" or "Zes-inge" ?

I always pronounce it as one syllable with the 's' silent. But I believe in some Earth languages the 'zs' consonant is pronounced like the 'j' in Jacques, so maybe that makes more sense than a silent 's'. Either way, I would guess one syllable.

My brain kinda defaults to "Sh-jhen-zi" but again, my brain is weird so that is probably not correct.

    Hapes, home of the Hapans.

One syllable, stressing the beginning, like grapes?

Or two syllables, stressing the ending, like trapeze?

I always went for the latter, pronouncing Hay-peez in my mind, but it occurred to me the other day that I had never heard it spoken. How do you guys say it?

I mean, my highly American mind went with Hapes like grapes and stuck with it, and I'd wager that's the actual intent, seems a little too exotic to give it an extra syllable.

Yeah, I always went with hay-peez.

Come to think of it, is "trapeze" pronounced "tra-peezy"? I always thought that was "tra-peeze".

    Eriadu.

Always pronounced it as air-eye-ah-doo. Bad Batch pronounces it eer-ee-ah-doo. Any others, from official sources or otherwise?

My pronunciation's halfway between those two. Air-ee-ah-doo.

Not that I find myself using this frequently in my day to day, but where does this thread fall on "Bpfassh"? It occurred to me recently that "Bip-Fash" could be a valid pronunciation, after 30-some years of assuming it was something like "bupfash," spoken very fast with accent on the "fash." (Han declaring the other two systems "unpronounceable" when delivering his report about the Sluis sector attacks in HTTE is a very in-character moment for him. I relate.)

I think I'd instinctively go with "bip-fash" although "bup-fash" isn't too far out there either. I might alternate between the two, like how I described with "Zsinj" above.

I actually don't think "bip-fash" and "bup-fash" sound meaningfully different in the first place, since I agree that the emphasis is likely on the second syllable.

But Hapes is meant to be exotic, so.

I always wanted to know the name of the other two systems that Thrawn hit that Han considered unpronounceable.

Knowing Star Wars, it's probably something super silly. Snalgontheroxienziaeaheaheaheahnolabah or something dumb like that.
But I agree, the people demand to know!

That's how I've always pronounced it.

Cool, that's how I've always done it as well.
