First game today, South Africa vs West Indies.

Great start to the tournament, awesome from Gayle 117 from 57 balls with 10 sixes. This game really suits his style although Gibbs is certainly making a fight of it.

SA's tournament may be in trouble though if Smith's injury is as bad as thought.

SA win. Gayle was awesome but his teammates did jack.

didn't watch the game but seemingly an unfortunate scheduling clash given the Rugby WC is on at the same time. couldn't they have started this tournament a month earlier? Pakistan v India on Friday night would have been awesome to watch but there's no chance i'm missing South Africa v England in the Rugby.

Australia should dominate in the cricket, though, although the fact they've played basically no cricket together since the one day final might hurt a bit. still, a lot of class there.

I'm still not convinved that 20Twenty is good for the game in the long term, or that it will last. Of course, people said that about one day cricket at first and look what's happened there.

It was a great game last night, and epic is right about WI no stood up with Gayle!

I think it will last. It has certainly captured the publics imagination, I think we will see more specialists thougj in this form of the game.

Next match on, NZ vs Kenya.

Seriously bad start for Kenya, only in the second over 3 wickets down and not a run scored. The ball jagging around everywhere.

    Tonight is the first game!

That they're showing here on TV. :( At two in the morning. :(

Australia's first one is tonight (hence why it's the first one we see) and we're playing Zimbabwe. I doubt I'll get to see any of it because of the time, however. Hopefully there's some on during the weekend so I can watch 'em.

I think you just answered yourself with that second sentence.

Edit: I just opened the live scoreboard for the NZ / Kenya match (man this reminds me when I was doing this last year! If jaypee arrives, then I'm set :p).

Kenya has lost more wickets than the have scored runs! o_O

    It was 4/1 (4 wickets).

Another has just fallen. 5/37. Bond and Gillespie are doing the damage from the looks of things.

Easy win for NZ, will be harder when they face the Sri Lankans though.

Ooph, and they only lost one wicket and ended with two sixes. Good stuff, NZ.

    Well done to Zimbabwe.
Good stuff, thats what Twenty20 is all about.

It shows that we'll have to have our guard on tomorrow against Zimbabwe, however considering our team's huge Twenty20 experience I think we may squeeze them out and kill them off better than the Aussies did.
England-Australia is going to be a much bigger match now.

    lol @ that result.

Terrious is right, the England vs. Australia match will definitely be a big one now. :D

Meanwhile, right now the Windies are facing Bangladesh. WI is off to a rip roaring start: ninety odd off the first 12 ... with only one wicket lost.

I wish they showed these matches on television.

We could be loling at England soon, too. As right now it's England's turn against Zimbabwe. Currently England is two down for 51. Could go anywhere from here...

Heh. Hehe. Bangladesh smash the Windies with two overs to spare!! Go Bangladesh.

I think its fair to say that Zimbabwe cannot be underestimated although Pietersen and Collingwood are steadying the ship at the moment, and to be fair 75 from 8 overs is really good at this point.

England need to just bat sensibly and keep the scoreboard ticking, by doing that we can get a good score and unlike the Aussies probably make it too competitive against Zimbabwe.

After all of all the nations we have had far more years experience of this form of cricket and I think despite early wickets we're showing that experience.

Will definitely be tough. England lost quite a few at the end, although I assume it was because they were going for the big shots.
