Beautiful work! i especially like the lighting effect you have going on in the Mark picture, it really adds sharper and shadier feel to the whole situation that the title ties together.

 

Where can I find your RPG so I can read it? Because it sounds completely hilarious.

 

Unfortunately, while there are extensive write-ups for our Avatar and Harry Potter campaigns, we don't have any written summaries for Star Wars. It's a huge regret of mine that we never took notes after sessions or recorded the story in any real way.

 

Well that sucks. Because it's cool that you share these little bits and pieces about your characters, along with the art, but a fanficcer like me wants to know the whole story!

 

I absolutely love these! I like how creative you are with the outfits and you've given the female characters an aspect of femininity which I rarely see in fan art because it's usually military uniforms, armour, scruffy looking smugglers and Jedi robes that we see on characters. Some of my (very old, now) female Shistavanen characters would love the dresses for themselves.

B.t.w. what do you use as inspiration for the clothing you give your characters?

 

I just kinda...start drawing and see what happens? Sometimes I have a theme or personality trait I'm trying to convey, but not always. When I was designing the characters for our Avatar campaign, I had a very clear vision of what I wanted each NPC to look like, because I'm the GM and I know exactly what I want to communicate. The Star Wars and Harry Potter characters, on the other hand, are played by a bunch of different people, and they're constantly changing outfits, so their wardrobes are somewhat random. Lars has a consistent theme (big coats), but Jastra doesn't really. Neither does Tyrran. It's grown up organically over time, without any real rhyme or reason to it.

When I'm doing actual design work, where I'm creating clothing to help express who a character is, I tend to be much more coherent in terms of color and style, because I want their clothing to aid in telling their story. For instance, here are some of my Avatar NPCs:











But with Star Wars? Just wingin' it.

@Acaciathorn do you know of the weird fantasy comic Kill 6 Billion Demons? If not so do I suggest giving it a look, and I think that many of the examples of fashion we see in it would fit you SW characters.

 

Ayanda Khan and Silara Ros, NPCs from the second arc of our campaign.



Ayanda is a bounty hunter and the former leader of the Carina Syndicate, which Lok now runs. She was declared dead following the destruction of the space station she was on, but it turned out to be a false alarm, because she's such a badass that not even the vacuum of space can kill her.

Silara is the bureaucratic type...at least, on the surface. She may seem nondescript, but she follows the old adage "if you want something done right, you've gotta do it herself." She frequently handles dangerous field work where secrecy or subtlety are major concerns.

 

Finally made a reference sheet for Jastra's fur patterns. Please note that this guide is not...anatomically complete, since I didn't think Jastra needed to go t!ts-out for the internet

 

Astraal is a new NPC from our campaign. She had a brief, ill-fated business partnership with our resident con artist and smuggler, Lars. For the first time in his life, he actually fell in love, but she was on the run from her own past trauma, and she stole their ship to pay off a debt to Black Sun. He's been chasing her ever since, partly out of anger, and partly because he can't get over her.

 

Fantastic palette and mood here! Also, nice backstory.
