How would you feel if George Lucas bought back the franchise?

I'm starting to sink deeper into my delusions about him doing this. Maybe there is a sliver of a chance he would have a go at it if TROS bombs at the box office. In fact, what if this is a 12D chess move by Lucas to buy back the franchise for pennies on the dollar.

 

I don't think he would given his age. He just turned 75. I think he'd prefer to make films he wants to (if he does) or have a quiet retirement - possibly involved with the George Lucas charity foundations he and his wife run.

 

Yeah I'm not disputing this, the guy obviously has different priorities. Still, I can't help but think his OCD senses are tingling, especially since he keeps talking about Star Wars and dropping hints as to what the ST would have been about.

 

If he really wanted to I'm sure he could write a book about how he envisioned the Sequels. If it came out as fiction under the Legends label it might be pretty interesting.

 

I voted yes but only in the spirit of considering what ifs.

 

There is no chance it'll happen, but I'd actually be indifferent, as I've decided that Star Wars is no longer for me. Also, given the circumstances, there's no way he would reboot the ST, so what would be the point?

 

I'd love it but would he have the give back the 4 billion?

 

Would be amazing but obviously no chance.

Maybe he could buy back the rights to Willow, though.

 

The thread title just answered my question lol. I'd love it but don't think George wants/needs the headaches at this point.

 

Only if he promises to make a film that's both a sequel to Howard the Duck and Red Tails.

 

I ought to give Red Tails another chance. Maybe I'd like it better if I watched it right after Pearl Harbor.

Hopefully he will, and round out his Ewok movie trilogy.

I think he really regrets selling the franchise! he did not look too happy at the opening of Galaxies Edge when Igor introduced him, there was a pause. my husband and I thought up a question about the selling of the franchise years ago when at the 2nd Indianapolis Cele. fans were encouraged to pose questions for George. ours was "Did you ever think about selling the franchise to Disney?" Of course, this was ignored and little kids questions were addressed! George should've just left his gift to the world at "Return of the Jedi".

 

Lucas has earned his retirement.

 

I would be dissapointed. I am happy with Disney creating new massive content in SW universe.

Seriously, even if he wanted to, there's not enough money in the world to convince Disney to sell one of its cash cow IPs like Star Wars.

 

Let him enjoy his retirement.

 

It is impossible at this point but I wish he sold the franchise to another company that was not Disney
