WarmNyota_SweetAyesha recommends: You Must Be Garazeb; or, Dinner with the Trilashas by @Findswoman
This is a fun read as the anxiety over meeting the family merges with sweet couple mush. Shulma is adorable and Zeb is so smitten -- and her family is absolutely the opposite of his own loquacious bunch [face_laugh]

Findswoman recommends: The Bridge over Ser Louis Canyon by @GregMcP
Framed by the tense, troubled relationship of mother and daughter Hutts Melba and Edwina and chock full of wonderfully immersive, gritty setting details, this tale chronicles the fates of two of Jabba’s Palace’s lesser-known denizens—spacer Yon Sm and dancer Yarna d’al’ Gargan—following the events of ROTJ. The bridge and canyon of the title loom as a fateful presence throughout the story, and along the way a Force-revering Jawa and his clan play a pivotal role.

divapilot recommends: The Force Awakens: A Fan Edit by @Kurisan
This is a very well written re-imagining of "The Force Awakens" that still retains the essential spirit of the film. This version has a much more threatening and chilling look at the First Order, who essentially steamrolls through system after system, putting more civilizations under their fascist command. Our heroes are still there, although slightly altered. The action is exciting and the writing is top-notch.

This is hilarious as Mace Windu and Qui-Gon Jinn (as Padawans) are the recipients of pun and pranks by Namia and Taeyn (Kit's' original characters).

Kahara recommends: The Quest by @CaraJinn
Tahl from the JA series is an interesting character, and this story has her in the starring role as she investigates possible conspiracies and prophecies surrounding Obi-Wan by traveling to his homeworld. Also has some fun interaction with Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon in the chapters where they feature.
Multichapter; adventure/family; Legends-based with some AU tweaks (based on the author's notes); Tahl Uvain, OC's

    Findswoman recommends: Leatherface by @rktho
A young Weequay girl struggles with beauty standards and self-confidence against the backdrop of her family's poverty. By turns delightful and poignant, with a good mix of the humorous and the serious. Not to mention engaging OCs, immersive setting details, and lots of alien characters, all by a writer new to JCF—let's support him!

An in-depth look at Sequel Trilogy Luke's feelings about his hermiting time on Ahch-To. While there are some grim moments where an instance of attempted suicide is mentioned and Luke's thoughts give away that he's still tending towards that at times, the story itself is more hopeful. (Though still in a somber and contemplative sort of way.) I liked the little bits about his interactions with the Lanai (aka Fish Nuns), and we also get to see a moment of his friendship with Lor San Tekka. The story ties into Azure's Nagina series as well if you follow that, though this doesn't require knowledge of those works. If you enjoy stories where the setting plays a major role, this is a fantastic example. Ahch-To was one of my favorite locations from the ST and this story definitely does the atmospheric landscape justice.

Short one-shot; drama; canon (or mashup, not sure); Luke Skywalker, Lor San Tekka, unnamed Lanai characters

Seldes_Katne recommends: The Nar Kreetan Job by @Mia Mesharad

Hidden treasure, a heist, plot twists and excellent characterization as the author's OC Ezgi Deshra tries to keep her client (and herself) alive when an attempted theft goes wrong. The two main characters follow a series of clues to locate a treasure planet designed and filled by a wealthy, but fortunately deceased, Hutt.

Ezgi is both tough and compassionate; the story includes a “rescue the slaves” subplot, where she “steals” a group of Twi’lek women from a Hutt mobster and frees them to start their lives over.

I found the plot and characters compelling enough that, when I started reading the latter half of the story at 10 p.m., I was astonished to find that four hours had passed when I finally looked up at the clock again. You don’t need to read the author’s Welcome to Mandalore story to understand this one (but I’ll recommend that one, too).

Type: Longer one-shot, action/adventure, and a full cast of OCs.

Raissa Baiard recommends: Master Grover Teaches Perspective by @Sith-I-5

This short story showcases Sith-I-5’s unique brand of humor. Grover is both his lovable furry self and a kick-shebs Jedi Master here as he fills in for Yoda—an inspired bit of casting since Frank Oz voices both. I could hear Grover’s voice while reading,

Kahara recommends: How'd he get in? Intruder portal by @Sith-I-5

In memory of the author, a longtime member of these forums who contributed much -- including this hilarious fanfic! "How’d He Get In? Intruder Portal" has a pretty simple premise: Kylo teleports to Rey's side in the middle of the night and gets about the reaction that you'd expect if someone with their shared history actually showed up like that out of the blue. There are a lot of quotable moments and Geraldine is better left a surprise, so I'll just leave you with this one:
Vignette; humor; canonicity unspecified (mild AU?); Rey, Kylo, Finn

Findswoman recommends: The Princess of Renatasia by @Sith-I-5
In tribute to the memory of our late fellow fanficcer Sith-I-5, though it was hard to choose among his many stories! This is one of my favorites of his, though, written as an entry in the OTP thread's Fairy Tale Challenge of fall–winter 2017. His prompt was “Sleeping Beauty,” and this zany adventure—starring Kylo Ren, Unamo (One), and a gigantic Uncle Snoke who is the same size in real life as in his TFA hologram—is his own creative take on the familiar sleeping-princess legend. And, most importantly, it’s a shining example of how he put his own spin on the SW universe in everything he did. @};-

Findswoman recommends: Out of the Mists by @Seldes_Katne

Seldes really hit it out of the park with this quintet of short but engaging tales centering on a character given relatively little time in canon material: Gungan officer Captain Roos Tarpals. We get glimpses into several stages of Tarpals's life from youth to old age, running the gamut from laugh-out-loud hilarious to heart-wrenchingly bittersweet--and, like all of this author's stories, they are rich in Gungan lore and cultural details, both canon and fanon. (Tip: If you can, read "Choosing the Path" and "Riding the Zalaaca" with Terryl Whitlatch and Bob Carrau's Wildlife of Star Wars: A Field Guide in hand!)

Characters: Rex and Ahsoka and the Lawquanes
Timeframe: Right after the world-altering events in RoTS.
Why you recommend this fic: This is magnificent, as it deals with their friendship growing into something more, complete with deep wonderful moments of confiding and clearing the air contrasting with lighthearted moments of just being silly. With Mira's unparalleled flair for descriptions of scene and inner growth, this is shaping up to be part of my heart canon for sure and ever. [face_love]

Kahara recommends: Du Doompa by @rktho
This is a really immersive and read-past-bedtime kind of OC epic. The story centers around a wide-ranging group of ordinary people in the GFFA whose fates collide during the Imperial era. rktho does a good job of making each of the large cast of characters memorable and ensuring that you'll be rooting for them (or against them, or both). The story is somewhat inspired by a book from our galaxy, and seeing how things are adapted to Star Wars is really entertaining as well.

MEGA SQUEEAGE! An undisputed L/M specialist returns to treat us with a vignette dealing with a hard topic. The L/M introspection, feeling of trust/safety to open up with one another, and candor, on the brinkness (which we get more overtly from Luke) is so wonderfully detailed.
