Republicans are saying the seat needs to be filled immediately. The Democrats are saying it should wait until after the election. This is truly like watching an YMCA pickup basketball game as you choose between shirts and skins or for a movie reference like Mystery, Alaska when they find out which side they are on at center ice for the weekly game as they get their jerseys from the bag.

It still is a shock that someone passes away, especially when she's respected! It could be expected, yes, but still a shock to many people, especially in the worst moment in our world's history.

Mitch says a vote will be held despite Ginsberg's dying wish that the next president make the nomination.

I hope she haunts the hell out of him.

He's also rewritten history by saying that the whole ******** behind denying Garland was based upon the makeup of the Senate at the time - despite saying in 2016 quite clearly that he was basing it upon the presidential election.
But it's not like that this was anything that we didn't know he was going to do anyways.

As I said they are a bunch of hypocrites. The only thing that might save us is if a few Republicans decide to grow a spine. If not we are screwed

Schumer should block every bit of legislation until after the election, period. Filibuster it all. Nothing passes.

Having a spine doesn't mean anything if you use it for evil.

Nixon seems to have appointed 3 justices in a single term. Reagan, I think 4 justices over 8 years IIRC

It should be pretty obvious that Mitch McConnell doesn't believe in any sort of afterlife.

An interesting twist: if Mark Kelly beats out Sen. McSally of Arizona, since she was appointed to the position apparently he can be sworn in as soon as November 30th - according to both Republican and Democratic election attorneys... which would make it 53-47 in the Senate.

This needs to be reposted over and over again until January 20th:

"The American people should have a voice in the selection of their next Supreme Court justice,” Mr. McConnell announced in a stunning statement the evening of Justice Scalia’s death. “Therefore, this vacancy should not be filled until we have a new president.”

    Save the effort.

"Mitch McConnell is a hypocrite" and "Water is wet" are fairly interchangeable.
