Is that new Pearl Jam stuff out yet?

 

I "watched" Gigaton twice for free on Apple TV!

 

I bought it so I can watch it anytime I want. And in Dolby Atmos. I do hope it comes out on Blu Ray.

 

Radio note for UK folks - Classic FM will be presenting a concert that John Williams did in Vienna in January on Friday October 9 from 8-10 PM.

 

I have the Blu Ray/CD of that coming soon in the post!

 

I might order the CD if I like the concert.

 

Very sad to see that Eddie Van Halen passed away. He was truly one of the greatest guitar players of all time. I like the sentiment that refers to him as the Mozart of electric guitar. Van Halen were my favorite band in the years before Pearl Jam, so this is a big deal to me. One of the biggest bands on the soundtrack to my Jr High and High School years.

Very sad about Van Halen. I've been a fan since the mid 80's.

 

Same. 1984 hit big right when I first became aware of popular music. The singles from 5150 and OU812 were my Jr High years and For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge was my senior year in high school. By that point they were my favorite band.

Mozart was better....

 

Beethoven was best. He used just the right number of notes.

Speaking of JW/VPO, I just added this to teh jukebox...

 

I agree on Beethoven.

Also, I got that JW thing on Blu Ray. It's quite lovely and sounds awesome in Dolby Atmos!

 

I saw clip on youtube where JW said that he hadn't programmed the Imperial March for that concert, but the VPO brass players had requested that they play it, so he added it as an encore!

 

That's awesome. It's probably fun for them to play!

 

Listening to Van Halen 2. Underrated album.

 

I always preferred the Sammy stuff. But yes, VH2 is a great album.

I must confess I did not listen to a note of his music today. Insanely busy day...

 

Man, Michael Giacchino's Nazi Theme is catchy AF. Sounds straight out of a Star Wars game.

 

Giacchino writes a good score. He also wrote the soundtrack for The Incredibles.
