State of the Galaxy

The New Republic

With half the galaxy settling into their control, the New Republic remains the primary galactic power. It is however subject to shading, overlap, and centres of intrigue. The Mandalorians exert indirect and direct influence on the Rimward worlds, and the so-called Corellian Confederation is a radical minority party that dominates the news with its fiery rhetoric.

Form the capital of Hosnian Prime in the Core, the New Republic has hunkered down and suppressed any cause for war, but also armed itself in anticipation of the invasion to come in 29 ATA.

Politics

The Chancellor and Vice Chancellor are supplied with an Advisory Council of key worlds, including, at the time of Empire Day, Hapes, New Nubia, New Alderaan, Rodia, Bastion, Kuat, Mon Calamari, and Neimodia.

Corellia was a member of the Council until Thrackan Sal-Solo was voted Senator of Corellia, at which point relations between the world and the Senate soured. Prime Minister Aidel Saxan remains the controlling influence in the Corellian Sector, but Sal-Solo is expertly preparing propaganda pieces in anticipation of system-wide elections.

Otherwise, the Senate remains as determined to fight and win the war to come, raising fleets, armies, wielding refugee plans and sponsoring development of Rim worlds as fortresses - Dubrillion, Garqi and Gyndine, among others. Also, it authorised the creation of Sector Fleets, which can be no larger than the numbered Federal Fleets.

Several worlds with sufficient funds and political clout managed to raise their own fleets. This included Corellia, Commenor and Kashyyyk. Hapes also fields its own Home Fleet, patrolling the Transitory Mists that separate the star cluster from the Inner Rim, and the Imperial Remnant had their own fleet and the prototype SSDs Megador and Dominion. The two lesser powers also contribute fleets to the federal military.

Military

The New Republic now fields nine fleets, each made up of some five thousand ships. The Fourth is made up of Imperial contributions, and the Seventh and Eighth were raised and donated by Hapes. Kuat and Mon Calamari have added to these fleets massive dreadnoughts - two Super Star Destroyers from the former, and three Viscount-class Star Defenders from the latter.

The First and Sixth Fleets hold in the Core, ready to defend any key world within it - and patrol the border with the Eternal Fleet. The Second Fleet is following the ‘invasion corridor’ - a trail of worlds that New Republic Intelligence has ferreted out of Yuuzhan Vong infiltrators - all who killed themselves rather be captured.

The Third and Fifth Fleet patrol the Outer Rim, prepared to reinforce the Second as necessary, while the Fourth Fleet is positioned at Balmorra, protecting its battle droid, munition and defence platform production. The Seventh Fleet defends Kuat with the SSD Guardian and Star Defender Krakana.

But the Eighth Fleet holds at Hosnian Prime with the Star Defender Viscount, rotating with whatever capital is selected by the Senate. Last but not least, the Ninth Fleet holds at the Bilbringi Shipyards, peering into the Unknown Regions as well, even as, separately, the Star Defender Bounty defends Mon Calamari.

All in all - the New Republic is as well prepared as it can be, and it’s only sin would be what it has sacrificed to keep the peace.

The Eternal Empire

For fifteen years the Twin Emperors have built up their militaries and their knowledge of the Dark. The capitals of Bakura and Anzat - the second technically inside New Republic space - split that dynamic, with the former as political centre, and the latter as the secret heart of the Force.

The former droid factories of the Separatist Alliance proved easy to retool to produce Skytroopers and GEMINI droids for the battlecruisers built at Sluis Van, Eriadu and Fondor, and now each Emperor has twenty thousand cruisers at their command, topped off by a single flagship with their Eternal Throne aboard.

The members of their Cabinet, including the leaders of the Sesswenna, Anoat, Lambda, Arkanis and Senex sectors supply the Eternal-Imperial Defence Fleet, a five thousand ship deployment made up of more traditional forces rather than just Eternal vessels. Of course, the Empress sits on the Cabinet and represents Bakura and its contribution.

Beneath the Cabinet is the Eternal Senate, some three hundred representatives who debate matters of state that are beneath the attention of the Twin Emperors. They are lead by Emperor Graul himself when in session, who has final approval of anything that they do; such mundanities are beneath the interest of Emperor Bernael.

From Anzat, sixty-four Jensaarai have been trained and raised, giving the Twin Emperors some punch in the Force besides the so-called Eternal Family.

Massacres and oppression is commonplace in the Eternal Empire - and even occasionally outside its borders - reports of which are suppressed by the New Republic Chancellor for fear of igniting the war before the Yuuzhan Vong arrive. The Chancellor has even kept them from the Senate!

The Eternal Empire has regular border skirmishes with the Empire of the Hand, but the true strength of either side has not been deployed. Conversely, the Tapani Sector remains nominally independent but controlled by House Mecetti, which is heavily inclined to the Eternal Empire, supplementing Anzati assassins with those of the Mecrosa. This suits the Eternal Empire as they have exclusive access to the Tapani shipyards even though Thyferra remains free of them, and the Twin Emperor’s like the ability to apply a scalpel to a problem as much as an Eternal Fleet bombardment.

Mutual-aid-treaties have been made between the Eternal Empire and the Bothans and Hutts, giving them a diplomatic reach as far as the Perlemian - which remains overwhelming Republican. The Bothans themselves have raised three fleets, and the Hutts a singular one, the latter preferring economic control of territory immediately rimward to it rather than military control.
