Mini Series The Book of Boba Fett 1.05 - Chapter 5 - Discussion Thread (Spoilers Allowed)

This was very weird to see episode of Book of Boba Fett without Boba Fett (a mere mention of him)... just mind-boggling... Show suddenly went into totally unexpected direction. I was expected to see Din Djarin, but not entire episode about him leaving mandalorians and getting a new fighter.... just so weird. They could've saved all this to season 3 really. Just show Din Djarin joining Boba and explain later what happened to him.

I did enjoy the nostalgia though and even though this was also exposition heavy and sort of a filler episode (to be honest it was very fillerish even for episode of the Mandalorian) that felt more like Mandalorian season 3 started early. I must say I did like it. It was a lot of fun. But still... was it all really needed? Especially in this show they released under the name "Book of Boba Fett".... I would like to see the said Boba in the next episode. Definitely a false advertising there.

Sure they had a lot of "The Clone Wars" without any clones or war.... but there were no entire episode of Mandalorian with only Boba Fett adventuring. This was very unexpected and honestly just weird episode for this show.

Oh and great to see green rodians in live action Star Wars finally. I like them. Halo-like space station was also a cool location. Reminded me of the Citadel station in Kotor II (and Halo of course).

I think X-wing scene was supposedly connection to the Rangers of the New Republic, but if that show is never coming it was sort of sad reminder of it really. It was cool to see X-wing flying with N-1 side by side. Reminds me of the old Rebel Strike video game.

And BD was a nice nod to other video game too.

I didn't think they were that far apart. Isn't it Beggar's canyon Episode I race takes place too. And if Luke was also there it cannot be that far away from Mos Eisley either. Planetary scale is also very often forgotten in Star Wars anyways.

 

Given the tonal, narrative and aesthetic differences to this point (even just from last week's chapter to this one), I'd say yes, they're different shows.

Did anyone else mention Skippy's motivator goes bad again in the background of one of the shots in Amy Sedaris' hangar?

Ain't much living down there, it would seem. Not exactly Club Med at this point.

Pretty clever with the armorer's reference to the mythosaur being the stuff of legends (or Legends)

 

A lot of things in star wars are thought just just be 'legends'

 

Do get the impression he’s largely left it behind when he’s only doing it as a means to an end with the butchers job at the beginning

however his first reaction seems to be it’s a bounty job when asked to work for Boba so maybe it’s not out of the question for him unless that’s just his way of repaying the favour to do it if required

 

That one X-wing pilot sure covers a lot of the galaxy.

I'm inclined to say that most people are expecting an eventual Beskar helmet for Grogu to go with his chainmail. I can picture the shape of what is expected, but what if they go with the unexpected? Something more like an astromech droid dome, but strongly influenced by the shape of a Roningasa (Ronin hat). He'd be able to easily push it back off his head, featuring a side-to side tether that keeps if from falling off.

7 seasons of The Clone Wars, 4 seasons of Rebels, 1 season completed of Bad Batch with another on the way, 2 completed seasons of the Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett is Season 15 or 16, not counting Kenobi, Andor, Ahsoka, etc.
Should this have been a stand-alone special? Probably, but raises right hand as high as I can, This is where my good will for anything the Mandalorian is. Now lowers left hand as low as I can, This is where my ability to judge it harshly for wasting an episode is.
They've earned the leeway to do what they want. It's all connected anyway.

 

How about the poll Leia holds in the trash compactor is a part in the Naboo Starfighter.

 

Ironic. The best episode of Book of Boba Fett was the episode where he did not appear himself.

Since Leonardo is apparently huge fan of Star Wars and Mandalorian makes this meme even funnier though... it works on so many levels. Too bad Leonardo was never Anakin... Would be just wizard...
