Five bucks says that graph was made by an intern that learned about 9/11 in history class -- or was supposed to, but time ran out before the semester/year was over. Because in my grade school and college experience, no American or world history class I ever took actually reached the end of the textbook. I think the furthest I ever got in an American history course (of which I took several at varying levels across middle school, high school, and college) before time ran out was the civil rights movement. The odds of a modern American history course actually making it through to the 21st century are probably slim.

    Damn, I'm getting old.

Well my AP US History class definitely reached the end of the textbook... and still had time for some supplemental reading ;)

    @dp4m

I woke up at 1:45 this morning and turned on the tv, trying to lull myself back to sleep.

Ended up watching an hour+ of curling.

it's gordon bombay's former coach-turned-opponent in the mighty ducks, portrayed by the brilliant lane smith.

the cruelest and coldest bastard around, and to children.

Rachel Phelps was a portender of actual real life villainy. An owner who looks to **** over Cleveland in favor of Florida, through the method of under-spending in order to put out a product that can achieve her financial goals at the expense of the fans.

You can trace this fictional villain directly or indirectly to:

The 1997 heartbreak in the World Series
Miami fans still whining about the National Championship Game, Ohio State defeating Florida
    Art Model
Billionaires holding municipalities hostage for sweetheart deals and millions of dollars to get new facilities built.
    Joakim Noah
    The Decision / The Heatles
The Dolans as owners across multiple sports
    Rampant tanking in baseball
The cluster**** of a situation that lead to the owners of a team competing for a championship to want to advertise their plan to (partially) relocate out of that city
The entire situation in Oakland with the Athletics
    The Current Lockout in baseball
heels' inability to win a draft

When a fictional character is that kind of harbinger for real-life doom, I'm not sure how you can vote for anyone else.

I thought he also made a brilliant Perry White in Lois & Clark. "Great shades of Elvis!"

The best actors are the ones who can convincingly make you hate someone in one role and then love them in the next role.

Lorraine Toussant is like that for me recently, with Into the Badlands (haaaaaaaaaated) and The Equalizer (love).

How is Bring it On's "Big Red" considered a "villain"?

Both sensei John Kreese from Cobra Kai and Coach Reilly from Mighty Ducks ordered their child athletes to injure other child athletes. I'd like to see someone take the next step and have the coach straight up murder a kid, and then play it off as just another villainous act in the pursuit of winning.

But that just reminded me of real life's biggest sports villain, Larry Nassar, and everyone who let him molest hundreds of children because, idk, sports are very important. Not such a funny thought now.
