Captain Rakkaus (Ewok Poet) is there a due date for quote submissions? I have some in mind (though I may have to confer with mavjade to make sure we don't just send you duplicates). I actually have some quotes in a word doc, but it might take some google-fu to find video clips (if there are any) BUUUT I'm in the middle of mid-term madness.

    Oh, and congrats Raissa Baiard!

    Interesting request.

Are we PMing these things, or posting them here?

    Here, please.

I'd prefer to have them as soon as possible, so we can start the next challenge. Perhaps Mav can handle it for both of you, then?

In the meantime, somebody suggested a great challenge idea that we COULD run before this...hmmm...:D

Or why not both? And then you pick one.

    Gaaah, I need a brain.

Here are some quotes about lurve [face_love][face_love]

“If the girl had been worth having she’d have waited for you?...No, sir, the girl really worth having won’t wait for anybody.” (F. Scott Fitzgerald, This Side of Paradise)

How many loved your moments of glad grace,
And loved your beauty with love false or true,
But one man loved the pilgrim soul in you,
And loved the sorrows of your changing face.

William Butler Yeats, "When You Are Old"

    "You are not beautiful, exactly.
    You are beautiful, inexactly."

    Marvin Bell, "To Dorothy"

Okay, I took a quick break from Neanderthals (this really is an interesting class, but SO MUCH TO MEMORIZE) and PMed the sock 3 TWW "romance" quotes that SHOULD work out of context (there's another two I love but aren't exactly "romantic" more like funny banter between husbands and wives so I left them out).

And, Mav, it was a Danny quote and two Abbey quotes, so you are free to send the sock Josh/Donna quotes :p

Edit: okay. I apparently can't read today. Technology also hates me.

HERE are some The West Wing love quotes. I just picked the couple I could easily find videos for and that made sense out of context so anyone could use them for any fandom.

    1. "So, if I'm gonna jump off the cliff, and you're gonna get pushed off the cliff, why don't we hold hands on the way down?" Danny Concannon from The West Wing – video -
    Code:
    [URL]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m6BG8zQuOo0&feature=youtu.be&t=189[/URL]
    2. "You have a big brain, a good heart, and an ego the size of Montana." (Abbey Bartlet from The West Wing – video -
    Code:
    [URL]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vasBQN6uEs0&feature=youtu.be&t=32[/URL]
    3. “We'll do mushy later. So, for now, I just gotta say I love you so much that my head's going to fly off. But, more importantly, game on, boyfriend! Let's go!” Abbey Bartlet from The West Wing – video -
    Code:
    [URL]https://youtu.be/LqNNvKhsV8Y?t=68[/URL]

I hope this is kinda what you are looking for. Sorry I had to put the video links in code boxes - it kept embedding the videos but erasing the time marks and I don't have time to fight with it further.

Oh...I'll work on this. So far, all I've got is Hamlet:
Doubt that the stars are fire. Doubt that the sun doth move. Doubt truth to be a liar. But never doubt I love. (Act 2, Scene 2)

Here are some of my favorites (that don't repeat Bri's):

"If you were in an accident, I wouldn't stop for red lights." - Donna Moss, The West Wing

The story leading up to the quote starts at 45 seconds, but watching the whole thing would kinda give you more insight into the quote.

And a gif for good measure: [IMG]
(And just as an FYI, they were not in a romantic relationship at this point, when she says "Thanks for taking me back" she means the job.)

"You've got health and strength, we'll steal the rest." - Donna Moss, The West Wing
This apparently comes for a story of a real person, and I kinda condensed the quote a bit (it's a two person deal) as you'll see in the clip, but I thought it too good to leave out.

The story starts at 55 seconds.

“I’m completely, completely in love with you. I even love the things about you that I hate. Because you make me feel like I don’t have to be anyone other than who I am. And to me that feels like family and that’s what I want us to be. I want us to be a family because that never ends. “ - Kevin Walker, Brothers & Sisters

First of all congrats to Raissa Baiard and to everyone who completed this challenge. I haven't been able to read all your stories yet, but they're on my ever-expanding list and I promise I'll get around to reading them at some point.

A few Victor Hugo quotes about romantic love:

"I met in the street a very poor young man who was in love. His hat was old, his coat was threadbare, there were holes at his elbows; the water passed through his shoes and the stars through his soul." (from Les Misérables)

"I wanted to see you again, touch you, know who you were, see if I would find you identical with the ideal image of you which had remained with me and perhaps shatter my dream with the aid of reality." (from The Hunchback of Notre-Dame)

"Love is the greatest victim of society as it is." (from Océan)

My modest contribution that...yes, says a lot about me.

― Margaret Mitchell, Gone With the Wind

“I did not want to think so much about her. I wanted to take her as an unexpected, delightful gift, that had come and would go again — nothing more. I meant not to give room to the thought that it could ever be more. I knew too well that all love has the desire for eternity and that therein lies its eternal torment. Nothing lasts. Nothing.”
― Erich Maria Remarque, Three Comrades

“Strange how complicated we can make things just to avoid showing what we feel!”
― Erich Maria Remarque, The Night in Lisbon

    One of my favourite poems:

    I remember a wonderful moment
As before my eyes you appeared,
    Like a vision, fleeting, momentary,
Like a spirit of the purest beauty.

In the torture of hopeless melancholy,
In the bustle of the world's noisy hours,
That voice rang out so tenderly,
I dreamed of that lovely face of yours.
    - A.S. Pushkin, To A. P. Kern.

    One that's also lesbian-friendly:

    For me,
    You stand poised
In the blue and buoyant air,
    Cinctured by bright winds,
    Treading the sunlight.
And the waves which precede you
    Ripple and stir
    The sands at my feet.
    ― Amy Lowell, Venus Transiens

Here are three from a movie I find very inspiring :)

Kiss me. Kiss me as if it were the last time.
    --Ilsa Lund, Casablanca

Rick: Who are you really, and what were you before? What did you do and what did you think, huh?
    Ilsa: We said no questions.
Rick: ...Here's looking at you, kid.
--Rick Blaine & Ilsa Lund, Casablanca

Rick:Inside of us, we both know you belong with Victor. You're part of his work, the thing that keeps him going. If that plane leaves the ground and you're not with him, you'll regret it. Maybe not today. Maybe not tomorrow, but soon and for the rest of your life.
    Ilsa: But what about us?
Rick: We'll always have Paris. We didn't have, we, we lost it until you came to Casablanca. We got it back last night.
--Rick Blaine & Ilsa Lund, Casablanca

i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart)i am never without it(anywhere
i go you go,my dear;and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling)
—E. E. Cummings, "[i carry your heart with me(i carry it in]"

    Wild nights! Wild nights!
    Were I with thee,
    Wild nights should be
    Our luxury!

    Futile the winds
To a heart in port, —
    Done with the compass,
    Done with the chart.

    Rowing in Eden!
    Ah! the sea!
    Might I but moor
    To-night in thee!
    —Emily Dickinson

I do not love you as if you were salt-rose, or topaz,
or the arrow of carnations the fire shoots off.
I love you as certain dark things are to be loved,
in secret, between the shadow and the soul.

I love you as the plant that never blooms
    but carries in itself the light of hidden flowers;
thanks to your love a certain solid fragrance,
risen from the earth, lives darkly in my body.

I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where.
    I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride;
so I love you because I know no other way

than this: where I does not exist, nor you,
so close that your hand on my chest is my hand,
so close that your eyes close as I fall asleep.
—Pablo Neruda, sonnet 17 from One Hundred Love Sonnets

And, of course, there are, of course, any number of suitable quotes in the biblical Song of Songs. Here are just a few:

"My beloved spoke, and said unto me: 'Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away. For, lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone; the flowers appear on the earth; the time of singing is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land; the fig-tree putteth forth her green figs, and the vines in blossom give forth their fragrance. Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away.'" (2:10–13)

"O my dove, that art in the clefts of the rock, in the covert of the cliff, let me see thy countenance, let me hear thy voice; for sweet is thy voice, and thy countenance is comely." (2:14)

I tried to choose something from chapter 4, but couldn't, because pretty much any and all of it works. :p

"I sleep, but my heart waketh; Hark! my beloved knocketh: 'Open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my undefiled; for my head is filled with dew, my locks with the drops of the night.'" (5:2)

"Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it; if a man would give all the substance of his house for love, he would utterly be contemned." (8:7)

Hope this helps—enjoy! And yes, I too love the way these quotes are ending up being so reflective of the people posting them. @};-

    Ah yes. Song of Songs.

Or as my roommate (the son and grandson of preachers) calls it: the porno in the Bible (which is why I can never take people quoting passages from it seriously :p He basically ruined that whole book for me - but we also can't get through Revelations either without cracking up).

    Got one more:

"Another used to say: When love was strong, we could have made our bed on a sword-blade; now that our love has grown weak, a bed of sixty [cubits] is not large enough for us." (Babylonian Talmud, Sanhedrin, 7a)

And yes, indeed, one of the theories about the Song of Songs is that it is indeed a manual of sorts on how to be tender toward the one you love, since in a way there aren't many examples of that elsewhere in the Judeo-Christian scriptures.
