If Bond 23 is being put on hold for financial reasons, how does this affect PJ's forthcoming Hobbit project?

 

You mean the one that has never been greenlit or had a starting date? Probably still slogging through scripting and pre-production on PJ's dime.

 

They still make these movies?

Daniel Craig ring any bells? Casino Royale? It was pretty big when it came out.

 

MGM just can't catch a break, huh?

 

Loved Casino Royale. Peter Sellers, Woody Allen, David Niven...

 

I thought Casino Royale was boring and never saw Quantum of Solace. No great loss.

 

Apparently not. I'm starting to wonder when they decide to part with reality and sic that lion on the people they owe money to.

 

This sucks. I've been looking forward to this movie more than to the next Batman.

 

My brother's going to be mad. He's always asking me about this when we talk movies.

 

A real shame, MGM is a fine company with a grand movie history.
I'm suprised given its control of Bond that it wouldn't be making a lot more money.

 

DAMN! I blame Obama! He needs to fix this crisis pronto and send stimulus money to MGM. I need my movies.

The government should at least give us our "bread and circuses."

So you're opposed to a take on the character that is actually more honest to the source material?

 

It's a shame. The franchise finally was heading in a good direction for the first time in decades. I'm sure that even if MGM themselves don't get bought, they could at least sell off the Bond franchise to someone to keep it going.

 

The way I see it right now, CR and QoS made 600 million each, worldwide. Bond 23 is getting made sometime soon. Certainly no later than 2012.

 

Disney could step in and help.

1. Bond 23 and The Hobbit get made

2. Disney changes the name of the park back to one that doesn't suck.

It sucks, yes. But does anyone seriously think that if MGM goes under, no one else will cut a deal to make the Bond movies? Or the Hobbit film? Come on. Even Chronicles of Narnia got snatched up immediately after Disney dropped it from distribution.
