I have evidence that "Readers' Choice" enjoys slapping children, while "Best" volunteers at an old folks home and reads to the elderly there. Please consider this when you vote.

Readers Choice cares about your children's future. Best wants them all to become sweatshop workers!

You people are nuts, you know.

LJS has it right. Eleven less letters to type out - ah, the relief!

Not to mention eleven less characters that you can avoid trying to cram into your bio. :p

We're demented, yes. We're sitting around arguing about the title of imaginary universes.

You know, Readers Choice likes to dress in his mothers clothing and beat children with a bag of oranges. While Best volunteers at the local orphanage, does Doctors without borders, saves animals, and is an Ambassador.

You just keep that in mind when voting. After all, every time you vote for Readers Choice, The gods kill a kitten. Save the kittens.

    :p :p :p :p

(Got that off of a commercial online. Had to change the wording a bit or else it would be a TOS violation, trust me. ;) )

    Dratted markup codes.

Readers Choice cares about your children's future. Best wants them all to become sweatshop workers!

"Best" was only trying to give needy kids a way to make some money and teach them the values of hard work.

Meanwhile, "Readers' Choice" has a $10,000 a week coke habit and is cheating on his wife with her sister.

    I'm just saying...

I think we're all overlooking the fact that Reader's Choice has admitted to voting for the $87 Billion Fanfiction Awards package before it voted against it. If you want your category to be decisive, vote for Best!

Best is better if you think about it. Choice implies what the readers would choose. It could be the worst fanfic ever written by the most popular author. People might choose it, but that doesn't make it good.

At the risk of inflaming these boards once again, I feel that you should know that I find this "conversation" in very bad taste, if not in the "outright offensive" category. And I may not be the only one.

There is never a good time to make light or fun of things like child abuse, sweatshops, street drugs or adultery. As a healthcare professional who has worked with people facing these problems, this discussion - meant in fun, I know - conjures some unpleasant memories for me, and may hurt others here as well.

I rarely comment on the Resource Board, but this time I would like to request that we find some higher ground. For all our sakes, let's keep this process from hurting anyone.

Hey! I resemble that remark! :p

    ***

'Do you know what happens to little boys who tell lies?'

    'Yes.'

    'Oh. Er...'

'They grow up and become Prime Minister'

[What happens in non-scripted interveiws with children, or alternatively, when you let the staff of Private Eye get into the sprirt of the election]

    ***

'Are you thinking what we're thinking?'

    'That depends.'

    'On what?'

'On exactly what it is you're thinking, boss.'

    'Right, that's it - you're fired!'

[The slightly sanitised translation of the version of that slogan that went round my school involves a word that can either be used in conjunction with poultry or a gland beginning with the
thirteenth letter of the alphabet. Boys, as they say, will be boys - or at least, male teenagers will be driven by hormones, peer pressure and complete and utter despair at the school system to a state of blissfully irresponsible chauvinism...]

    ***

You guys aren't the only ones with ridiculously childish election campeigns. Yours are just bigger, and have marginally more interesting participants, and we hear less about the illiterecy of the pamphlet capiegns - just the premier candidates... :p

Oh how true. I have 3 brothers and my dad is no better. ;) That's why you have to scare them into submission.

Besides which one sounds better, is there actually a difference between Readers Choice and Best?

Readers Choice: It sounds like a nice way for saying "most voted for"

Best: It comes across as saying the story most voted for is better than all the rest.
