Star Wars Reads Day is an international event that celebrates reading and Star Wars. It was launched in 2012 by Lucasfilm and its publishing partners — Abrams, Chronicle Books, Dark Horse, Del Rey, DK Publishing, Klutz, Random House Audio, Scholastic, and Workman Publishing. Last year, Quirk Books joined the fun, and we’re excited to have Disney Book Group participate this year.

CHATTOOINE will be doing two events on October 11th, 2014 to help promote Star Wars Reads Day. First, we'll be at the downtown Chattanooga Library from 1:00pm - 3:00pm. Actvities include:
Make 2 kinds of Light Sabers
Create Yoda Ears
Compete with Pencil Pod Racers
Learn to fold the Origami Yoda
Play Jedi I Spy
Make a Leia Headband
Peruse the Star Wars Library
Fashion a Yoda Puppet
Fold a Wookie Fortune Teller
Costume Parade
Spend your hard earned Vader Bucks at the Mos Eisley Cantina on Yoda Soda
Classes:

1pm - Dan Baker Presents: Animatronics in Star Wars & Beyond Lecture (All Ages)
1:30 - Dan Baker Presents: Make an Animatronic Hand (Ages 13-18, Registration Required!)
2pm - Star Wars Yoga (All Ages)

After that, we'll head over to the Barnes & Noble store at Hamilton Place Mall from 4:00pm - 6:00pm. Besides readings, there will also be a costume contest.

To promote Star Wars Reads Day, CHATTOOINE went on TV last Tuesday to get the word out! We hit up WRCB's show "3 Plus You" and then headed over to WTVC to be on "This-N-That".
