    I think it's more likely he's just been 85 for 35 years.

Come to think about it, I think Remo Williams was the first thing I saw him in.

For me it was The Firm. That's the the one that made me say "Hey I know that guy" when The Natural came along and really cemented his career as to the types of roles he would play for the next 30 years.

RIP Wilfred and that beautiful 'stache.

I first really noticed him in a brilliant drama called Absence of Malice , with Paul Newman . Brimley comes in in the 3rd act and essentially cuts thru everyone's bull**** and talks sense back into everyone.
He had that way of listening and you could rely on him as the best bull**** detector in the room , a twitch of that mustache spoke volumes!

He was also in Star Wars - played the hermit Noa Briqualon in Ewoks: The Battle for Endor (1985).

Brimley kind of became a guy revered in a cult way, just for the existential reality of "being" Wilford Brimley. Appreciation for his actual acting talent has perhaps dropped off as diabeetus memes have risen. But he was a great actor. You tend to use words like "charisma" to describe people who are handsome or beautiful or whatever, but Brimley was charismatic on screen and that's why he could walk into a movie for ten minutes and steal every scene he was in.
