    Mike Gravel passed away. Senator from Alaska who was instrumental in the publication of the Pentagon Papers and the end of U.S. involvement in Vietnam. Ran for the Democratic nomination for President in 2008.

    Avant-garde trumpet player Jon Hassell, age 84, worked with Talking Heads, Peter Gabriel, Bryan Eno, Ry Cooder, Terry Riley, and more. I personally knew him best from his work with David Sylvian.
