Oh you have to see it! It's an amazing Cold War nucelar thriller.

 

You know, Larry used to say that he liked to do as little research as possible before an interview so he would be in the same position as his audience in not knowing much about the person he was interviewing.

Okay, he's an icon. But that's the stupidest ******* thing I've ever heard and exactly the kind of nonsense that would lead to moments like him expecting Danny ******* Pudi to have a private jet or asking Jerry Seinfeld if Jerry ended the show Seinfeld or if it was cancelled. And I mean, that clip . . . he asks a question and then when the guest answers it, he's basically like, "Wrong." And the guest answers it again and he's like, "Also wrong. Are you an idiot?" He seemed to quite often, for some reason, end up interviewing people he wasn't really that interested in or didn't respect at all. I often found him quite rude and not in an entertaining or curmudgeonly way like Letterman or somebody. Just rude in a "so I don't actually care about you" kind of way. I really found the man difficult to watch honestly. Not a fan at all. He's probably even now asking Jesus what exactly the significance of all the cross imagery is in Christianity.

I mean, RIP. He was very beloved. And COVID sucks. But as a journalist, he was not my speed at all.

And then they replaced him with ******* Piers Morgan when he left CNN who is worse than King in all of the ways I just talked about with Larry, ie. rude, uninformed, disinterested, dismissive . . . but also terrible in ways that King wasn't, ie. preening, arrogant, etc. That time slot was cursed, I'm telling you.

Sorry, that turned into more of a roast than I was anticipating. RIP, Larry.

 

lol it was kind of funny when he'd interview someone current and he'd reference something Sinatra or someone way back had said to get their take. You could tell in the later years he had not much idea about some of them.

Nah Rogue you just echoed exactly how I felt about Larry King. Not happy he's dead at all, but I've never missed his actual interview work.

 

I think you answered yourself here...not that you asked a question. He probably wasn't interested because he didn't know anything about them. Maybe if he researched, he could have found things that did interest him.

(pure speculation on my part, I don't think I've ever seen him interview anyone.)
