Did a quick search and saw there's no existing thread for next year's Oscars... therefore no place to start the discussions about the 2023 ceremonies and the 2022 movies likely to be nominated. The 95th Oscars will be held on Sunday, March 12. This will be the first awards ceremony from which Will Smith will be banned.
It’s only May, but I would already 100% put forward The Northman for best score and Doctor Strange for best visuals. Avatar will probably win a lot.
I predict the 2023 Oscars will be cancelled when a broad coalition of people named Oscar finally organize together in a class action lawsuit for back payments.
The historical announcement that the Flash entering the Speed Force won the 2022 Oscars Cheer Moment will be the winner the the 2023 Oscars Cheer Moment.
2023's Oscar's Cheer Moment will also be Flash entering the speedforce (getting arrested in Hawai'i).
The Oscars get temporarily postponed when the committee in charge realizes to their dismay, that no film in 2022 could possibly match the quality and prestige of Morbius.
I figure all of the Best Picture nominees will be movies I'd never seen or even heard of before they were nominated. And 95% of the moviegoing public will forget who won Best Picture within six months of the ceremony.
They totally need to put this under the Logo: The 95th Annual Academy Awards The Oscars Year One of the Will Smith Banishment
I'm currently programming an army of bots to ensure that the Oscar Cheer moment is Spoiler: Multiverse of Madness spoiler Wanda snapping Charles Xavier's neck
Cheer?! I was gasping in horror! (Great terrifying scene though). My cheer moment would be the Dr. Strange music battle, or the Batman highway chase. Guarantee Love & Thunder will have a bigger one though.
Oscar Nominations 2023: The Full Nominees List – The Hollywood Reporter No cinematography for Top Gun; Maverick, ok....
Banshees, Triangle of Sadness and Everything Everywhere got plenty of nominations. I'm hopeful one of them will win best picture. Gleeson and Farrell nominated in different categories and they both may well win. If it were up to me Banshees and its cast would walk away with 7 awards.
Industry backslapping nonsense. Avatar for Best Picture, seriously? Because it made $2billion? So did Endgame, never was up for Best Picture The Batman is a better movie. I like Angela Bassett a lot, but does she really deserve Oscar nomination for Black Panther? It was alright. She was good in it, but I've seen better performances in Marvel films Aronofsky left out of the two big categories, surprising
If you have a pool the smart play is to ignore Banshees, Everything Everywhere and Triangle and give everything to Spielberg.
Academy Awards are so out of touch with the general audience. It didn’t used to be like that. The Academy is so stubborn to except Super Hero movies. It’s obvious they are not a fad after more than two decades of popularity, It’s a full on genre like the Western. Endgame really probably should have won Best Picture for what it capped off. It’s a staggering accomplishment. The academy awards big concession to super hero movies was Birdman. When’s the last time we heard anyone talk about that movie?
