The legal drama is still on. Re: the Jack prequel and the spin-off:

“We feel (the 24 format) still has a lot of power and a lot of legs. Times are fraught now, these are emotional times. Security continues to be a big issue. In terms of the prequel, people love Jack Bauer and (we) would tell a story that I think the audience would very much connect with – of how he became that character. It would be set in the same world of security."

    ...

"The idea of moving the franchise from terrorism and security into the legal world is something we talked about as far back as season 3 or 4 of 24 where, from time to time, there would be discussions of spinoffs. You have to look for an arena where the stakes are high and time matters.

[The legal spin-off] deals with an execution of a prisoner and there are just 24 hours left until the execution is supposed to take place. So the stakes are high and it potentially has a lot of the same values of the original 24. Regardless of the political climate, the times always right for a show of that type.”

When I read the news of prequels and legal spin offs I had a look back at the 24 series and I couldn't believe its 16 years old. I am long overdue a rewatch of it. Great show which I think was a game changer in its format. They can keep doing spin offs and variants but I think the reality is that only something with Kiefer is going to garner a lot of interest.

I could get into a Bauer prequel even sans Keifer (casting would have to be bang on nailed it) but basically a late 90s spy tech throwback show could be fun. The legal drama? Eh, if it gets on the air I would probably have to check it out.

How people expect this to live on without Kiefer is beyond me.

Your 24 is dead son. Accept it.

I find it hard to believe that Kiefer Sutherland would be "creatively" done with "24" but to get him back, and he seems more set on doing it as a movie than a TV show, it would probably be a backbreaking paycheque that Fox wouldn't want to shell out.

.... butttttt maybe when Disney is all bought and purchased Fox their wallet / lineup of dumptrucks may be a tad deeper

24 can't just end with Jack being sent to Russia.

Yes, it can. Sometimes the hero doesn't get the happy ending.

Done and done! "24: Day 0" is a thing that already exists!

(Only watched this one but I forgot that it randomly takes place between 10:15 PM and 11:40 PM which has to be the weirdest passage of time in a 24-verse product)

hey 24 had an energy drink!

It is always a priority for us to match our properties carefully with products that complement the nature of the brand. Here we see the all-action, intense nature of the 24 series matched with an energy inducing stimulation drink!

"Dammit, Chloe! We're running outta caffeine!"

Anyway, this is old but for those who missed Chloe and Jack's SNL cameo a few years ago

    Got Season 7 from Amazon.
Binge-watching it now. First time watching it in years.
    Loved this season back then.

At the White House attack. Getting ready to wrap that up.
It's just insane how much has happened in 12 hours.
Does feel weird having hours of focus on Dubaku, while Juma only gets 2 and a half hours. An important two and half hours but still. Oh and Jonas Hodges' first appearance.

YAh Juma randomly shows up just for the White House attack but it's freakin Tony Todd so y'know you get millage out of that. Also it's Tony Todd's 2nd appearance on 24, in Season 3 I believe he plays a private investigator who works with Sheri Palmer.

    Finished Season 1.
Wow. What a roller coaster. So many good cliff-hangers, action scenes, emotional characters interactions, etc.
Though, not the cliffhangers at the end of the finale.
Really wants you to get Season 2 started doesn't it?
    I don't have season 2, yet!

The interesting thing about Season 1 izzat they had a 12-13 episode order I believe so the kidnap plot actually wraps up quite nicely after half a season and then suddenly "there's a second shooter!" This format would continue throughout the run of the series, basically the main "boss" introduced in episode 1 is never really the final guy Jack has to take out.

But also Season 1 is even showing sometimes the series would run in circles for a few plotlines at 24 episodes. Terri had amnesia and forgot her family for like, what, 4 episodes or something?

24 episodes. Something is always going to go wrong before the finale. And sometimes even at the finale.
It's maddening. Something is going right, and some mole, or higher up bad guy always ruins it. But it hooks you in, doesn't it?
Dissociative amnesia. Brought on because she thought Kim died when the car Teri thought Kim was in drove off a cliff.
