[3SA] There isn't enough active moderation in the Ep3(SA) forum for the lead-up to ROTS.

I'm sure I don't have to tell you that it won't be getting any better as Revenge of the Sith approaches even more. I realize things will wear down a bit after you take care of the troll in question, but it's not going to be smoothe sailing. The administration could hire as many mods as they want, and that might be perfect in some cases, but they have lives, too, and it's not getting anywhere to hire mods that will all be on at the same time, just as odj_310388 has pointed out.

And for your information, G-FETT, we're talking in general. This isn't a new thing. The thread I linked to earlier in this thread is proof of that.

 

I think the mods are doing great. It's not their fault that they can't be here at times, I mean, I am sure they have lifes to attend to.

But, I don't think another mod, maybe two, wouldn't hurt anything.

But they can't be around all the time and 3SA is one of the heaviest, if not THE heaviest, trafficked forum on these boards. A little extra help couldn't hurt, no? Maybe a temporary mod position just to cover the next three months?

This "single user" that's causing all of the headaches wouldn't happen to begin with a "Y"...end with an "S"...and have an "OT" in the middle, would he/she/it? I know that's private info that I'm not privy to...but it wouldn't surprise me in the least if that's who this person is.

 

In this case, no it wasn't YOTS. However, it's typically not a good idea to name names as it gives the troll the publicity they are desperate to get.

I have been in 3sa a lot this weekend, and not just for trolls. There is a lot of obviously redundant threads, threads in the wrong forum, stupid threads that are basically spam, and peoples tarting threads to ask some small question that belongs in another thread. It's not just the porn troll. 3sa needs better coverage late at nights.

That's exactly what I'm saying. With the help of the other mods, the current 3SA team could probably handle it during the day (excluding a few snips in time), but it's virtually pointless for there to be such a large team if there isn't much of a night patrol over the forum.

 

The answer is Bob. Why he is not a 3SA mod blows my mind. He is always online and already does 3 times the work that most of the current mods do.

Despite sometimes having a gap in coverage (usually just the weekends) I never have a hard time finding another mod online willing to help. Kimball, Garth, Dashy and Droideka have especially been helpful.

 

G-FETT, as the only mod that has never banned me I love you.

I was saying Bob's job or whetever he does allows him to be online almost as much as me. (Hint Snowball for JCC mod) He seems to provide the correct link in every single thread.

 

Guess this weekends been crazy. But from most of what I've seen and personally dealt with, I've never had a problem with getting a mod to help out with 3SA especially on a Sunday night. Which I like Smuggler said back in December this was a problem that was going to get bigger. And it did and it will keep getting that way.

And I do think the currant mods are doing a great job. I've watched them close several threads in a matter of minutes of them openning. But they can't be there all the time and that's understandable.

Just like everyone else, I'm in support of Bob being promoting he does the job of redireting and everything else. Bob or someone else with the same tyep of availbity and skillz.

Well said. We need better coverage. It's really that simple.

 

With the new trailer and book coming out, I have a feeling it will get even more crazy. And then the movie will probably just make it be total anarchy.

Do keep this in mind in regards to the movie. Once the mods start seeing the movie, then they will have nothing to be afraid about in regards to 3SA. So while traffic will increase, mods who were avoiding 3SA will become available to mod in there if it gets too rough.

Yes, I agree. Bob is there more than most of the actual mods. He'd be a fine mod.

I agree that there's not 24 hour coverage every single day. And troublemakers are taking advantage of those small windows and doing major things so that the situation appears to be out-of-control. Remember, redundant threads aren't harmful. I know about the porn being posted and that seems to be handled quickly. I am also giving consideration to discussing the addition of a new mod. What is happening is that we are being taken advantage of during particular times by malicious people who have studied those times in which moderation is light. During the week, I cover the place from 4:30 am until 2:30 pm board time and then other 3SA mods logon during that time and stay on longer than me. Weekday coverage is fine. So it's important to understand the issue for what it is.

 

DarthSapient If you are considering a new mod for the 3SA it really should be BobtheGoon. He is the most knowlegable and responsible user in the 3SA. You guys do a good job. I don't want to moderate, I've got enough problems!

As Sapes has just said, 98% of the weekdays are fine. If we could just get a mod for the weekend, especially Sunday afternoon/night board time, I think most of these complaints would be answered. Easier said than done, obviously.

 

It certainly couldn't hurt to promote Bob. It's not like there is a payroll budget the administration has to meet for its 3SA mod team, right?

Having the extra set of hands with mod tools, banning powers, etc. can only be a helpful thing in these final couple months. Anything that can be done to ease the burden on the current 3SA mods (who do a fine job) would be a step in the right direction.

If you are looking for people to check in late at night board time, you could look at someone from the uk, as it is obviously the morning there, otherwise bob is a great choice.
