A Clash of Titans: Fanfic vs RPF

Brace yourself for a battle of mythical proportions. A true clash of titans. The titans in question are—drumroll please—Fanfic and RPF.



This titanic showdown will feature four member teams from Fanfic and RPF competing for the epic prize of a week of colors. Signups for each four member team will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Signups will begin on November 16th, 2022 at 12 noon EST. To sign up, simply reply to this thread.

The theme of this Clash of Titans will be Friendsgiving.



Each team member will write a Star Wars based 500-2000 word vignette. Every Star Wars based story written for this event should be inspired by the Friendsgiving theme and by the single sentence prompt: “It all started with a turkey.”

Finished stories should be submitted by PM to a Fanfic or RPF mod. The stories will then be posted without names attached so users can submit votes on the best story and mods can tally scores based on those votes. Each vote for the best story will earn a point for the team which the writer was a part of.

The first date for submitting stories is: November 17th, 2022
The deadline for submitting stories is: December 17th, 2022

Additional points can also be earned by the writers themselves when they include certain bonus words in their stories. Each bonus word used will earn an extra point for the team the writer is part of. The bonus words are listed below.

Bonus Words for Bonus Points:
- Chiaroscuro
- Higgledy-piggledy
- Snickersnee
- Trocar
- Glower
- Flibbertigibbet

Each user may only submit one vote, and no user may vote for themselves. No funny business with socks will be tolerated in regard to voting but all you lovely people knew that already. To submit a vote, simply PM it to any Fanfic or RPF mod.

The first day for submitting votes is: December 18th, 2022
The deadline for submitting votes is: January 10th, 2023

Remember this is a friendly competition so be kind to your competitors and teammates alike. Be positive, be supportive, and always follow the rules of the site.

To answer your question, vignettes don't have to be connected within a team.

The main requirements for the stories are:

1) They should be 500-2000 words long.
2) They should be Star Wars based.
3) They should fit the Friendsgiving theme.
4) They should be inspired by the single sentence prompt: “It all started with a turkey.”

Even the bonus words are not required but just a way to earn extra points

 

In the true spirit of Friendsgiving, I feel like I should say something about everyone wining due to the sheer amount of talent that's about to be unleashed on both sides of this challenge, but really . . .
