I liked the premise of Agents of Chaos 1:

Take grumpy old Han solo and strip him of everything that defined his comfort zone for the past 20 something years: Chewie, the Falcon, his family. Felt like a spiritual continuation of the AC Crispin/Daley novels.

Gonna listen to the audiobook of Jedi Eclipse at work because I don't feel like waiting for a copy to come in the mail

I liked Vergere's role in Traitor primarily for the challenging and duplicitous nature of her character. Her quotes are classic.

"Questions are more true than answers: This is the beginning of wisdom."

    "Freedom is always alarming."

"Is it what the teacher teaches? Or what the student learns?"

"His belief that evil was an illusion did not save him."

One can find a lot to agree with her in philosophy, though I wouldn't apply it in the ways she and Lumiya encouraged Jacen to embrace for himself. Stars Wars needs more morally ambiguous characters like Vergere, and more Fosh like her!

Well, it has Obi-Wan and Yoda.

    Or the prequel Jedi order.

Why would you even ask that question? Just do it. Order two copies and send me one (assuming ordering it doesn't collapse the universe because it's a webpage from a parallel universe).

Too much going on in Jedi Eclipse, and I'm just listening to the abridged audiobook.

So is it possible to maybe skip to TUF after finishing up Traitor? I'll read the whole series eventually but I just want the framework of the series out of the way before the force awakens and I need to relax my SW reading habits for a bit

You might not want to miss Destiny's Way, there's some important stuff in there, but from what I recall there's not much memorable between that and The Unifying Force.

The Final Prophecy is good and maybe read Reunion but skip Remnant and Refugee.

What DM and Ackbar's Fishsticks said. There's some pretty good stuff in-between Traitor and TUF. The only really skippable ones are the three Force Heretic books. You can get by with just reading the first one, or just skip all three and go right to The Final Prophecy, since that covers most of what the FH books do in about a quarter of the page count.

I enjoyed the NJO when I reread it recently. I was surprised that I liked it a lot more than LOTF and FOTJ, but I suppose I was such a busy and active college student and alumna during the time those two series came out that I read them too quickly and didn't put sufficient thought into them. I'd say my favorite characters of the NJO are Jacen, Jaina, Luke, Mara, Han, Onimi, and Nom Anor. The reason I include the latter two is because they are so unusual, as many Yuuzhan Vong characters were, compared to most Star Wars antagonists. The NJO, while having some flaws here and there, was overall a very creative collective effort.

The NJO series will always be as much SW to me as the OT was.
The Vong were a breath of fresh air after the Empire and Sith.
Nom Anor, Onimi and Vua Rapuung were the best characters.
It is one heck of an experience, reading it from start to finish.

[brokenrecord]I don't think any amount of thought put into those series would make them particularly likeable, honestly. Unless you count writing fix fic.[/brokenrecord]

but WOW, Traitor was easily the best Star Wars novel I've ever read. Even knowing how it was gonna end. That whole walk to the Senate with Ganner was harrowing.

Traitor is the best Star Wars novel.

Hard to believe it was published 13 years ago.
