A future researcher in fan studies needs your help

Hello there!


Let me introduce myself first. I am Adrien Débart, I’m 24 and I’m a cinema student at the University of Caen Normandy, France. Last year, I wrote a small thesis (≈100 pages) about the Star Wars fan films that were made between 1997 and 2006. I have been a Star Wars fan since I’m 4, and I’ve always been fascinated by fan-made movies. As I’m planning to become a researcher in fan studies, I love studying our fandom.

This year, I will write a second small thesis about Star Wars fan films directed between 1997 and 2006, but this time: I am going to need some help. TheForce.net and fan movies are intimately connected (I found most of the ones that I’m analyzing on the archives of TFN), so I would love to have your opinions on this time period if you were already on the forum.

Oh wow, I was thinking about doing a video essay on this exact topic and resurrected my old account just to post a thread asking for people's memories of that era. I'd love to see what sort of responses you get with this.
