Title: A Life's Uncertainty

Timeline: Right before Darth Bane rose to power

This is the story of Riendi, a former Twi'lek slave. She was invented for a Role Playing campaign that lasted for well over two years. There will be two main characters along with Riendi that I did not create, but I am using with permission.

This is the first story I've ever tried to write in Before, so please go easy on me (Needless to say, mav is a little nervous about it!). I don't know a whole lot about this time period except what we talked about in my RPG, so please forgive any gross errors on my part. Thought I wouldn't mind you pointing them out, so I can learn more about this time period!

Entry 1: New beginnings??

I was stranded on some planet in the outer rim, I'm still not exactly sure where, but I'm not going to complain. I've abandoned my post as a medic with the 251st division, for many reasons. At first it was my escape from a worse life, and I'm glad I had the opportunity, but I get tired of following others around, doing nothing. I want to do something in the galaxy.

I didn't escape from slavery to not be happy in my life. When my parents sold me, I figured I would be trapped forever, doomed to be a dancer for others pleasures. But then, I was recruited when there was a raid at my masters layer. The military trained me and found that I have a natural aptitude for medicine. Through the people who rescued me, I found something I truly love to do.

I'm really hoping they think that I was lost in the confusion when we were attacked by some locals; I don't want them to know I've abandoned them. I feel bad about that as it is, but I did watch to make sure no one was hurt, I wouldn't have left had they been.

I wandered around for quite a while looking for a way off this planet, when I found them, Jedi. There were two of them one a human male the other a farghul male. At first I wasn't sure they were Jedi, the were dressed in brown robes and sand colored tunics, but one can't be two careful in this galaxy; anyone could be dressed like that. I would rather kill myself than become a slave again.

In retrospect I should have stayed far away from them. The human, Marju Nebeck, had injured himself with his lightsaber. He actually cut his own arm off, what Jedi does that? But I trusted them. Something in me told me to trust them, so I offered to help him. If they took me with them, I would help him treat him, even make him a makeshift prosthetic until he could get a real one.

So here I am, traveling to who knows where with two Jedi. At least it should be an adventure.

Entry 2: To where??


I've managed to get Marju a pretty good prosthetic, until he can get back to the Jedi Temple. I found myself wondering, apparently out loud, how a Jedi cuts off his own arm and it turns out that these two aren't exactly Jedi. The are Jedi Padawans that have been sent on a mission by their respective Masters to gather information about a dangerous smuggling ring.

The answer he gave didn't really make any sense, at least to me. I would think the first thing you learn in Jedi school is that you don't cut off your own limb, but I certainly won't say that. While Marju seems nice and would just laugh at that thought, I think Rish, the Farghul, would take offense. He doesn't seem to have a sense of humor.

I've volunteered to stay with them as it appears they need my services as a medic. They said they didn't know how the Jedi Council would feel about it, but they would let me tag along for now.

I figured the first place we'd go would be to Coruscant so Marju could get his new arm, but I don't think he is ready to let his Master know what he did just yet, so we are following the trail of the smugglers.

I don't know why, but I have a bad feeling about this.

Entry Three: The Dance

I've finally managed to drag out of Marju that we are heading to Commenor . Apparently there is something that we have to retrieve. We've received word that the smugglers have sold something the Jedi order doesn't want to be out in the general public. (I say we've like they really think of me as part of their team. I'm not, but they do tell me where and why we are going somewhere so I guess that is something.) I don't know what it is we are looking for exactly, but it sounds very personal.

Today I watched Marju and Rish practice fighting with their lightsabers. I was a little concerned seeing as what happened the last time, but Marju assured me they were both perfectly safe. For some reason I didn't exactly believe them.

While I was watching them, I found myself in awe. The dance they did with and around each other was beautiful, yet contradictory. It was amazing how something so beautiful could potentially be so dangerous. But as a former dancer I could just watch and appreciate what they were doing. And these two weren't even full Jedi yet. I think it would be amazing to watch Masters duel.

I wish that I could learn the dance they do, but I know that I will never be able to, I'm not a Jedi. So, I'll settle for watching these two grow in their skills for as long as they will let me.

Thank you very much! I've danced my entire life and have also taken Kung Fu and I found it strange how similar they really were (except I kept getting yelled at in Kung Fu for turning out! ) So when I picture dueling it really is like a dangerous dance to me! Thank you for reading!

Entry Four: Bringing Life

We arrived at Commenor late last night. As soon as we arrived Marju and Rish were out looking for something or it seemed, someone. I thought we were looking for a smuggling ring, but now I get the impression we are looking for a specific person. Maybe the person who started it?


I think I could have convinced them to let me go with them, but I figured I might be more harm than good at this point. I have military training, so it not that I can't protect myself, though I don't know if they know that or not. I know my way around weapons and how to sneak around in the dark. I would rather not use said weapons, but I can.


I figure they can use their Force and do things to keep themselves from being seen and I would only serve as distraction, so I stayed put.


I hadn't gotten much sleep since setting off with these two, so I decided to do just that, sleep. The only problem was I couldn't help but be worried about those two. I know they can take care of themselves, but I get the feeling that sometimes the Jedi don't really know the universe, especially the young ones. They really aren't that young, probably about my age, or their species equivalent, but I think I've lived a lot more than they have. That is what I hope to bring to them and maybe, if I can stick with this team, I will.

 

What a sweet and giving nature Riendi has. Hugs!! I feel her trustworthiness and her caring.

 

I hope Riendi doesn't come to regret her decision to stay behind, though I completely understand her logic. Sometimes non-Force users are just in the way.

On the other hand, they've also been known to save a life or two.

I'm sure they can learn a lot from her.
