    I love all your work, but I really love this one of Mara. Is there a story behind why she is in Stormtrooper armor?

    Fabulous work on the troopers collage! =D= I love the fellow in the center, with his foot up on the speeder--they all look just awesome! And Mara looks wonderful--we always love to see Mara art here! This is intriguing, as AG88 has mentioned: is there a reason for the armor...? "Bunnies" begin hopping around... :p ;) Have a great time at C4, and thanks for sharing these with us here! [:D]

    The person commissioning the piece just requested her be in armor. I decided to throw a spin on the Obi-Wan in Armor. Giving her a Dark cloak. I would imagine this would take place while under the service of The Emperor!

    I wanted to give anyone attending Wizard World Philly a head's up!

    Stop by Artist Alley! I'll be at table 1804. I'll be doing a limited amount of commissions during the weekend, but I'll also have some NEW Sketch books, sketch cards, prints and original art... including Hyperspace webstrips!

    Hope to see ya there!

    And also, here's some more of my 30th anniversary sketch cards! Enjoy!

    Whoa!! Great cards TDHArtist!! =D= Some of my favorites are the "Chasm Swing"--such a classic "hero moment" from the OT!--and all the homages to McQuarrie's concept artwork! Those rock! =D= It's so wonderful how well your style captures the characters' personalities and moods--Han, Leia, Luke and Tarkin--love the expressions! All fabulous--and have fun in Philly!

    Very cool! I really have to make it to a convention one of these days... Nice use of McQuarrie's stuff, I don't think I've seen anyone make sketch cards of those designs.

    I agree with Lord_Anjok, I love your style, too.

    Out of curiosity, how long do you average from concept to completion? I find myself to be rather slow and meticulous and while I think the results are good, it has a negative effect on my total output.

    Thanks everyone! I'm really glad that you are enjoying my work.

    I just returned last night from Philly so this is the first time I'm having a chance to reply:

    I actually work pretty fast compared to some folks. It really just depends. I was an animation major in art school (traditional and Computer) and the first 2 years of it is 80% drawing. and a lot of it is frame by frame stuff. It's long and tiring and I hated it (which is why I'm NOT an animtor now)... but it did give me the ability to crank out work faster.

    Wow, these are amazing! =D= Lots of fun to peruse. I wish I'd gone to C4 now, just to get a sketch! I particularly liked the Yoda riding a flying Artoo [face_laugh]

    Well, you don't HAVE to go to a show to get something from me. I do take commissions online, you'd just need to be patient and pay for S&H.

    I wanted to start posting the individual pieces that made the print.

    First was the preliminary sketch, done on regular paper stock and a col-erase blue pencil:
    [image=http://www.tomhodges.com/art_posting/HanPre-Final_small.jpg]

    Second is the finished art, which was done in full color then altered in Photoshop for the grey tone.
    [image=http://www.tomhodges.com/art_posting/HanColor_small.jpg]

    Tomorrow I'll post Leia.

    Lovely, wonderful! I especially like the Leia one. Great expressions on both of them, but the Leia for some reason looks more like Carrie Fisher to me than the Luke looks like Mark Hammill... I always like charicatures, though, they're my own favorite thing to draw. :D

    HA!! =D= Love these latest pieces! The one of Han is perfect IC: it makes me wonder, tho--is he asking for two of something...or giving us just two seconds to beat feet before he blasts us?! LOL! ;) Leia looks wonderful, and I love Luke's pose here--very much the brash young fighter pilot! **nods** It's also great to see the rough sketches, and then see how you bring them to completion with the colors--thanks for sharing that! Awesome work!

    That commission you did of the Jedi & Yoda is great was it done with markers? Call me stupid, I'm not all that familiar with the markers you sketch card artists are using, what type/kind are they? I'm sure they're not cheap but they seem to be essential to the sketch card trade since everyone of you is using them. I'm looking to submit a small portfolio type thingy to Topps and of course want to have some examples of sketch cards. How do you do the white highlights I see in some of these pics, for example the sketch cards, a white marker? Anyways your stuff looks great, I especially love the clone trooper pieces.
