CT A short discussion on relevant deleted scenes in Episode VI with shown footage

For the sake of the pacing and rythm of the whole battle sequence (and remember that the whole Battle of Endor is over 30 minutes long!), it works much better if the action doesn't begin until "It's a trap!". That moment works because of all the previous buildup of tension. This sequence did NOT need to be in the film at all.

 

The Lost Pilots thread has, somewhere in its many pages, the idea that the only shots released in the special features are the ones that were never put into a rough cut of the film, because the ones they actually almost used were snipped out and put into that same rough cut; what we're left with in the archives is the leftovers. I suspect the same applies here.

 

Not that Palpatine would care, but it doesn't make much sense to sacrifice any of your men when you're getting ready to spring a trap. I'm glad this was cut.

Plus, all the bodies ending up in a pile just looks kinda dumb.
