I'm well aware the magic of AI has already provided us with the definitive sequel.

    1. For the sake of clarity, my “go back and read” comment was directed at @TiniTinyTony

    2. Has he done so, he would have seen that the topic has been discussed repeatedly over the past few years, including on the previous page, making his question moot.

    3. Great article, though, thanks for sharing it. As I’ve said before, and since you asked, I’d be surprised if he finished the series, and at this point, I’m skeptical whether he’ll even finish Winds. I think he lost control of the plot and is stumped as to how to tie the whole thing back together.

No, I think he’d rather die with the series not completed than sink that low.

Shocking no one, GRRM confirmed Winds of Winter won't be released this year. Fire and Blood coming out in November though.

    Amazing.

Martin has likely reached some kind of contractual arrangement with the showrunners whereby everyone pretends that the books remain relevant to the story but Benioff and Weiss get to definitively finish off the series without input from Martin, who instead of completing the saga will make novelizations of his universe background notes. Like the Silmarillion, only pre-posthumously.

So my copy of fire and blood came today and all I can say is this thing is huge. I’m also a Little surprised as I thought this thing was going to be more like the world of ice and fire that I have.

I'm annoyed at him for wasting time on what amounts to supplemental material when there's a good chance he won't be able to finish the ****ing main series.

Maybe I'll buy it in paperback.

From what I understand is next project is the winds of winter after that is volume 2 of fire and blood, But who know. I wouldn’t be surprised if he is also heavily involved with the long night show.

Enough, George R. R. Martin. Enough.

You’ve just released a weighty 706-page book — and it isn’t “The Winds of Winter,” the novel fans have been awaiting since the last installation of your “A Song of Ice and Fire” series came out back in 2011?

You’ve become a master of vamping for time, releasing since then a quote collection, a novella, a reference book, a story collection, a young adult book and then another novella — most of which tangentially relate to the world of “Game of Thrones,” and none of which are the book we fans actually want to read.

It's like a textbook example of procrastination. I don't want to do what I'm supposed to be doing, so I'll do anything and everything instead. Am I supposed to be studying for an exam? I'll play videogames instead. I'll go and shop for groceries. I'll even tidy up and clean up the place until it's sparkling, if it means I can avoid studying.
