this is a thread for people obsessed with either the sinking of the Titanic or the 1997 film. both groups of degenerates are welcome.

when I want to feel relaxed, I watch the Titanic sink in real time. new animations are created every day by weird freaks who want to see the ship sink over and over again.

and who's excited about the 25th anniversary theatrical release of the best film of all time?

    25th anniversary trailer

    100 year centerannary trailer

the OG crazy spoiler 4 minute epic 1997 trailer

I cannot WAIT to see Titanic as it was originally intended to be seen... in 3D and high frame rate!!!

great Titanic film, but this poll only accounted for any media produced in the first 100 years after the sinking

I voted A Night to Remember but Raise the Titanic is up there as well. I went to a Titanic Historical Society convention in Philadelphia in the early '80s and met Walter Lord (author of A Night to Remember) and some of the survivors.

Nazi Titanic. It loves to go after the British + the grueling gears of unchecked capitalism.

This is probably the most interesting take I've seen– most media tends not to focus on efforts below decks by the boiler men and engineers to keep the ship afloat w the pumping + electrical systems. It's kinda a docudrama esque thing + v interesting (if overwrought).

Also a film called The Unsinkable Molly Brown among others.

Also COD had a zombie thing happen.. on the titanic.

And there were a couple of Italian cartoon movies but they're rather....nothing like the event. Like straight up offensive even

Walter Lord, Ruth Blanchard, Eva Hart (we were in the hotel bar with her - she was a hoot!), Charlie Haas (then THS president - not a survivor), Edwina Mackenzie ('Saved in lifeboat 13 April 15 1912')

I’d like to see a sequel where we see all the passengers trapped in an unending loop of the journey and sinking for all eternity like the ending to Cameron Titanic implies.

ugh its just the last withering decaying synapses of Rose's dying brain as she takes her last breath after spending two days presenting her 84 year old memories as literal facts, I hate the heaven interpretation

Did DiCaprio actually swallow a puss loogie in the "spit like a man" scene because it's super gross when he swallows it when Rose's family show up around the corner

I don’t see my particular willful twisting of the ending as a heaven interpretation, honestly I’m leaning heavily into myths and folklore surrounding ghost ships and the like where all the cursed passengers are doomed to relive the ships final voyage over and over again. It’d absolutely be a horror story.
