CARDS *A* SW:CCG Attack of the Clones Expansion Project (formerly Quest's)

    BTW- there will no doubt be comments or card suggestions made here with AOTC spoilers, so you've been warned.

    With Decipher no longer able to make the SW:CCG, I figure it's up to the fans to continue the legacy in terms of cards based on the new movies. Sure, they won't be official and won't be tournament legal, but they'd be fun to play with during friendly games I think.

    So, I'm planning on making a couple "expansions" of dream cards based on AOTC that I'll photoshop together sometime after the movie comes out. I'm planning on making them small sized expansions, ranging from 50 to 80 cards, depending on how long my patience lasts;;D

    So, in this thread I'm hoping to get suggestions for cards, as well as refining gametext concepts to make them balanced later down the road before I start making the images.

    I'm planning 3 expansions-

    -"Heart of the Republic" (covering the Coruscant and Naboo elements of the movie)
    -"Kamino" (covering the Kamino and Tatooine elements of the movie)
    -"Geonosis" (covering everything from the film's climax...will probably be the largest of the 3 sets)

    I'm open to suggestions for the expansion names also- I wanted to stick with the planet-named pattern Decipher utilzied for the most part, but since Coruscant has already been used, and the Attack of the Clones doesn't have much to do with that portion of the film, I'm trying to come up up with an appropriate title. Likewise, Kamino could be called Tipoca City or even Fire & Water::)

    As far as card concepts go, as a start, I'm working on concepts for 3 or 4 different versions of Jango (one for each expansion plus a permanent weapon version) along the ideas of:
    -"Father of Fett" (a play on "Son of Skywalker"'s card title, this version would give bonuses to Boba Fetts of ability <3 and would also give piloting bonuses to Slave 1...the card title sounds a tad awkward though, so I may just go with plain old "Jango Fett")
    -"Jango Fett, Bounty Hunter" (this version would, obviously, work better with Bounty Hunting game mechanics)
    -"Jango Fett, Mandalorian Super-Commando" (this would be the tricks & gadgets version, I'm thinking along the lines of being able to have weapons and devices deployed on him for reserve deck such as "Lanyard", "Flame Thrower", "Dart Launcher", etc)

    & lastly...

    -"Jango Fett with Dual Blaster Pistols" ("enhanced" Jango, if you will, no immunity to attrition, but can fire twice per battle since he has two guns...perhaps even allow them to fired additional times for additional force use..but that might be a bit too powerful...maybe I'll save the rapid fire action for a seperate weapons card instead).

    I'm thinking Dooku's main ability will be dodging (reduce weapon destinies targeting him bya certain amount) in combat to portray his fencing-style of fighting.

    Another card I want to have in there is "Completely Armless", hehe::)

    Other game mechanic-based cards I'm thinking about would be Jedi fighting style effects or something ("Type 1", "Type 2", etc) that would give them different abilities in duels and/or lightsaber combat, or perhaps even normal battles.

    Cloning is also something I want to add in (make it Kamino-based I assume, like carbon freezing is bespin-based and such), although I'd think it best to restrict it to only allowing cloning of alien and republic characters of ability <5. The neat part, I think, is this would probably be a lightside objective/epic events/whatever...for now at least. (I could be off..I'm not 100% spoiled, so theres a few details I'm holding off until the movie comes out).

    Well, thats what the aim of this topic is, feel free to contribute any suggestions (particulalrly on set names), comments or dream card ideas.

    Sounds like an awesome idea. The easy part will be making the templates and finding the images. Getting the game text to work so as to not overpower the cards_game testing would be the tricky part.

    Too bad the "Player Committee" can't issue game cards with images, and is just restricted to working with existing cards and new text. I would love regular and foil versions of Jango, Zam, Anakin and many others. Oh well... saves me a ton of money in the long run.

    BTW, I'm still looking for someone to post images of the Lord of the Rings Star Wars fellowship images. No takers at the moment which is a downer given the card images are awesome (IMHO).

    Here's a starter to warm up...

    Side: Dark
    Set: Geonosis
    *Completely Armless
    Destiny: 2
    Effect
    Gametext: Deploy on table for 2 force. Adds 1 to force loss from Mostly Armless (and that card may now play after winning a battle, duel or lightsaber combat). Bionic Hand may not be played and is immediately lost if drawn for destiny or as a combat card. (Immune to Alter.)


    Beyond enhancing the usefullness of Mostly Armless (from Cloud City), it also helps prevent abuse of virtual Boshek's ability to yank the destiny-7 Bionic Hand in lightsaber combat decks, not to mention preventing use of said card to counteract Mostly Armless.

    To balance this out though, so as to not make this card "invincible", a "Bionic Arm" card could be made to cancel this effect (and isn't killed off by the effect since the card title would be different).

    I think that after AOTC is released this board should get together and ceate a Virtual Episode 2 set as suggested by 2ndQuest. I think Bib has done some AOTC dream cards in his Dream Card thread.

    But I think we should make whole sets and use them as we like. We won't be selling them or anything. I don't think there's any law against ideas.

    I'm in the process of doing the same thing. I've essentially created light side strategies that will balance out Episode-1 dark side strategies, and vice versa. It will be interesting indeed...

    Here's a few I came up with (all light side):

    (Rp) *Master Obi-Wan Kenobi (1)

    (II) Obi-Wan Kenobi trained Anakin Skywalker for a decade after the Battle of Naboo. Followed Jango Fett all the way to Geonosis, discovering the Confederacy's droid foundries.

    POWER 6 ABILITY 6 JEDI KNIGHT

    D 8 F 8 (P) (W)

    Deploys -2 to Kamino or Geonosis. Adds 3 to the power of anything he pilots. While piloting Obi-Wan's Starfighter, also adds 2 to manuever. When the mentor and Anakin is the apprentice, adds 2 to training destiny. Your Jedi may deploy to same Geonosis location as a 'react' (even if captured). Immune to attrition < 5.


    (Rp) *Anakin Skywalker (0)

    (II) The best star pilot in the galaxy. Cunning warrior. Believes he is the Chosen One. Loyal to Master Kenobi. Infatuated with Padmé Amidala.

    POWER 7 ABILITY 5 FORCE-SENSITIVE

    D 9 F 7 (P) (W)

    Deploys -3 to Coruscant, Tatooine, or same location as Padmé. Adds 4 to the power of anything he pilots. If Obi-Wan or Padmé are lost, power -3 for remainder of turn and you lose 1 force (3 if both). During battle, subtracts 1 from each opponent's battle destiny. Immune to attrition < 6.


    (Rp) Jedi Knight (2)

    (II) The Jedi Knights fought bravely in the Battle of Geonosis, despite overwhelming odds on land and in space. Masters of lightsaber combat.

    POWER 4 ABILITY 6 JEDI KNIGHT

    D 5 F 5 (W) (P)

    Adds 2 to the power of anything he pilots. Once per game, a lightsaber may deploy here from reserve deck (for free). When firing a lightsaber weapon, add 1 to total destiny, and if target is hit, opponent loses 1 force. Immune to attrition < 4


    (Wp) Lightsaber (2)

    (II) The lightsaber is the weapon of a Jedi, a symbol of power and control. The weightless blade makes the lightsaber too difficult to handle for all but the most skilled of warriors.

    CHARACTER WEAPON

    Use 2 force to deploy on your Jedi or Padawan (free on a Jedi Master). Your force drains at same site may not be modified by opponent. OR May target a character or creature using 2 force (free if on a Jedi master); draw two destiny; target hit if total destiny > defense value.


    (E) Dual Duel (3)

    (II) Obi-Wan tossed Anakin his lightsaber after being defeated by Dooku. Unfortunately, his young padawan met a similar fate.

    EFFECT

    Deploy on table. Your Jedi and Padawans may use two lightsabers. Lightsabers lost at sites are placed face-down there (during your control phase, any Jedi or Padawan at same site may carry and use lightsabers there, even if unique). Effect cancelled if you have no Jedi on table (any face down lightsabers are lost).

    That Dual Duel one is great.

    I also assume that Anakin would be considered a seperate persona than Vader?

    You might want to include an exclusion on Maul's double-sded lightsaber since I think logically you couldn't fight with both that and another saber (although single sided would be doable).

    Heh, you HAD to bring that up, didn't you!? I have no frickin' clue. I'm just assuming that this stuff will be played in a prequel-only environment.

    Here's something I just came up with:

    *Kouhun Delivery Droid (3)

    This droid was used by Zam Wesell to delivery deadly kouhun insects to assassinate Padme. Not accustomed to carrying Jedi Knights around the city.

    POWER 1 MANEUVER 3 Probe Droid

    Landspeed = 2. During your control phase, may lose 1 Force to target a character at an adjacent interior site. Draw destiny. If destiny > ability, target is lost. When this droid moves, an opponent's character present may follow (for free).

    Deploy 1
    Forfeit 3

    how about "...may follow (for free) as a 'react'." ?

    Could then have a card ("Sniper Shot" perhaps?)that targets a react like this and, after a destiny draw or something that can make the reacting character either relocated, lost, disarmed, or something else by sacrificing the droid.


    Also, there are two quotes that I'm debating on whether or not to use as individual effects/interupts/epic events or combined as an objective ...

    "I Foresee You Becomming The Greatest of All Jedi."

    "Someday I'll Be The Most Powerful Jedi Ever."

    Also theres the matter of making their gametext live up to the intent of the quote without making them overpowered.

    Also, here's another that might be useful against suicidal Lukes w/saber in saber combat vs saber combat games.

    What I like about this is if you have Yoda and 3 Younglings at same site, and opponent draws a 6+ battle destiny, assuming you want to save Yoda, you have to forfeit all 3 Younglings to satsify attrition.

    Jedi Youngling will become a characteristic, so there will be named unique Younglings eventually.

    Clawdite bounty hunter and assassin. Shapeshifter. Can mimic the appearance of almost anything. Was hired by Jango Fett to kill Padme, but she flubbed the job.

    Adds 2 to power of anything she pilots. During any deploy phase, may lose 1 Force to reveal a non-droid character from hand; Zam has that character's power, ability and game text for remainder of turn.

    Deploy 3
    Forfeit 3

    Basically, Zam acts as a "wild card" so you can effectively get big mains out for a relatively cheap price.

    Replaces Dooku at any time. Adds 2 to the power of anything he pilots. Your battle droids are deploy -1 and power +1 here. During a duel or lightsaber combat, adds 1 to total destiny. Immune to attrition < 6.

    Does that mean Tyrannous can only deploy if Dooku is already out?


    I like the Zam Wessell one- I was thinking along those lines, only by having different versions of her that you could switch from your reserve deck for the one on the table.

    No, it means if you have Dooku out at ANY TIME Tyranus can come out and play [face_devil]

    You can deploy Tyranus without having Dooku on the table, if you wish. But Dooku can't replace Tyranus. There are some distinct advantages to each version: Dooku has buff politics and basically functions as an undercover spy. Tyranus makes your droids even more useful and is a great swordsman to boot.
