Got a bunch but no pics readily available. I think I've posted some pics here before though...didn't we have a tattoo thread already?

thank you!!! Tattooing is the best thing i have done since having children! and just as painful, expensive, and time consuming!

 

Are facial tattoos basically frowned upon?

 

I have three small tattoos. One I got in 2005, the other two in Oct 2015. I love them all.

 

it's relative... we don't judge a persons placement preference. the policy at our shop is - if you already have a tattoo on your face, we will consider tattooing your face if requested, same with hands.

the most frowned upon, and absolutely prohibited in our shop, are tattoos that are racist/racist symbols, that condone some kind of bigotry.

 

I knew a co-worker from 5 years back who had a swastika tattooed on his arm that he got while he was in prison. Really nice guy, along with being a preacher while in prison, so I have no idea why he had that tattoo to begin with.

 

i know a person who had "white power" tattooed on her leg, then got together with a black guy, and had 2 kids with him..

impulse/peer pressure tattoos... don't.

 

I'm pretty sure he wants a tattoo of Walker, Texas Ranger.


Also some will join those groups for protection even if they don't believe in it.

I have a japanese sword guard (tsuba) on my back. I used to do iaido back in the day, and I was struck by the beauty and variety of tsubas. Mine has iris blossoms on it, which may or may not be a symbol of strength. (I found that bit on the internetz.) I would totally get another tattoo if I found one that I liked, and if I could afford it.

 

Could I get someone's face tattooed on my face?

 

I could see getting a tattoo of a full beard and mustache and then growing a full beard and mustache over it.

 

Sure...but it's not very smart.

 

I shudder in horror when I think how close I came to getting some truly awful tattoos in my youth, I seriously dodged multiple bullets. I'm looking at getting one this year but just haven't yet found the right design/concept.

 

ophelia - that is a beautiful design!! what size is it? i love the shading...

man there are some fugly tattoos out there.. whoever tattooed that face on that guys face should be deeply ashamed... for multiple reasons.

my tattoo (that i got on friday) is healing up well... bruising on the shoulder - but i am a tender little peach... the line work is looking fantastic! i can hardly wait to get the other side done... still planning what will go between the 'collars', center chest/sternum. i have some ideas..
one of the benefits of being in the tattoo shop every day is the ability to apply stencils to "try on" a design for a couple days...

 

Do any of those numbing creams work? I have to get some blood drawn next week.

 

i don't know if they (lidocaine creams) work or not - we don't use it at the shop i "work"/apprentice at.

 

thank YOU!! the flower artwork is my rendering, and my mentor, Ben did the actual tattooing... i love the bold lines.. and am still deciding if i want to go with shading; colour pack with earthy tones (like plum, navy blue, avocado green, etc), or just leave it like it is...

the center piece is going to be a lotus/bell and Dorje design that i put together/draw myself, also..

a dorje aka Tibetan Thunderbolt.

 

Kerr_Plunk That is a gorgeous tattoo! I like the purple hair, too.

And my tattoo is maybe 2.5/3" on a side. It's hard to remember, since obviously I don't see it often.

 

I say go color.
