No such thing as strangers. Just friends we've never met.

That's what my idiot 6th grade teacher kept telling us. He's probably dead/in prison.

Yes, from one of the early, good episodes. Street Car named Desire, the musical!

With the caveat that I have absolutely no business offering anyone career advice, I think a free taint tattoo tour of Europe would be a great, uh, brand building exercise?

i like where you're going with this, but do not want to build up a reputation as a taint tatooist... my mentors sage advice is to learn how different areas of the body take ink... especially if it's an uncommon area to tattoo... he hasn't had the 'opportunity' to tattoo taint in his 16 years... other private parts, yes...

No interest in being a fecal force sponsored artist? Wait... I'm not sure we have sponsorship funds... ok, nvm.

Ah well, I'll see if someone local will tattoo 'OHAI' on my taint :D

    question for tattooed persons...

how much did you pay for your tattoo? was it by the piece/size, or by the hour?

also, did you pay a deposit for artwork and/or to secure your appointment/

I remember paying $140 for mine. I can't recall if it was by the hour or by the piece. The whole process was fairly quick, about half an hour to 45 minutes, so it may have been by the piece. I feel like I got a huge bargain!

cool.. those are our shop rates - and pretty much industry standard in the area of the state i live in..

not a bad price to pay for a great design, from a professional, in a sterile environment... maybe they have a higher hourly rate/ are you on the east coast?

we have been dealing with an influx of "why is it so expensive" lately - spring tattoo fever (even though it's best to get them in the fall/winter).. when i explain that we charge lower than the average for most cities (Seattle, for instance) we get a lot of attitude, particularly from people who already have tattoos - which blows my mind.. (but then again, those are usually the same people who got their work done by a kitchen wizard, and have no point of reference for pricing... )

what people don't realize is that the cost of setting up, the sterilization, the single-use equipment, everything, asically, all cost a lot of money... the germicidals alone.. sheesh! sometimes half the cost of a minimum cost ($60) tattoo is eaten up before the client gets the first drop of ink in 'em..

    thank you for the feedback!
