Hey if this thread gets locked: I've really appreciated this discussion over the last few days. I think I understand Darth Nerdling, mikeximus and the rest of the skeptics better. Hope you guys got something out of it.

 

When he mentions fans he means fans. No need to try to read his mind & reinterpret his words. Although some will try to suit their agenda.

Here's a newsflash: Lucas doesn't play stupid games like some people do in these forums. He thinks SW fans will love the movie. It's no more complicated than that.

Not how I'd describe a simple comment from George...but ok.
Most of us just take his word at face value. It's those few on the other side who are always trying to spin & "polish" his comments to suit them.

As someone who has hung around these parts, in several different guises, since the early aughts, I can verify AussieRebel is good people (not that he/she needs my support).

On a not entirely unrelated note, it's interesting how critical remarks in a fan community are viewed as "poisonous ranting" in one context, but are accepted as conventional wisdom in another....

 

To no one in particular:

 

Painting everyone who is less skeptical of the ST as "PT-bashers" and telling some to "get off their high horse" hardly counts as critical remarks.

I think that's it now really. Anybody who now thinks there is any merit in the argument that TFA does not incorporate into it's creative remit to some degree a conscious re-orienting program to move away from what was considered unpopular in the prequels is now an enemy of this thread and should be hunted down and removed.
