Wasn’t sure where to post this, went to see Return of the Jedi live in concert yesterday with a 70 piece orchestra.

Absolutely incredible! It’s my favourite of the original trilogy anyway so add in the live orchestra and it was always going to be enjoyable. The second Act was mesmerizing with all the on screen action coupled with the live music

    That sounds amazing!

Return of the Jedi gave us so much:

    • Green Lightsabers, thank the Force blue wouldn’t show in the blue sky of Tatooine.
    • That lightsabers can deflect blaster bolts, Luke on Jabba’s Sail Barge was the first film moment we saw this.
    • The Rule of Two, we see how the Sith operate and work in more depth.
    • Force Lighting, we finally see one of the darkest dark side powers.
    • Jedi Prodigal, that one can always return to the Light.
    • That Jedi attire doesn’t have to be brown and white robes, you can wear black like Luke.
    • Force Choke is a neutral power, Luke using it on Jabba’s Guards.
All of these became staples in Canon and Legends, and they all were first seen or explained in ROTJ.

I went to see the same show on Tuesday night. We had booked our tickets before the pandemic, so the show was postponed for almost two years. It was worth the wait, the orchestra was incredible and the conductor was very enthusiastic. It’s also my favourite OT movie, and it was an incredible way to experience one of my favourite films. My only complaint would be the celebration song following the battle of Endor. I would have enjoyed hearing a live choir singing Yub Nub[face_laugh].

Got tickets yesterday for ROTJ in concert in February. I had tickets for it last year, but well...

I've seen the other two movies in concert and they were great. I try to watch the orchestra but then just end up getting sucked into the film. I'm seeing John Williams in April too.

Yeah the conductor was great wasn’t he. We fortunately only booked it last Christmas so didn’t have to wait quite as long as you!

Whether or not he was a Star Wars fan, the conductor was clearly a huge fan of Williams’ score and his interactions with the audience were great. The whole orchestra deserved all the applause we could give. If they show comes back with a different episode, we’ll definitely go and see it. I’d love to see the Prequel Trilogy get the orchestral treatment. It would be worth it for Duel of the Fates alone

Yeah TPM is one of my personal favourites and I think that would be masterful with the orchestra
