i have a question about the star wars ROTS game for ps2.

can you play as darthvader?

 

I would say yes, you can play as Darth Vader- from a certain point of view
Here is a link to the Lucasarts website, it mentions being able to duel with Vader and unlockable characters - So I imagine you will be able to play as him. If you click on the Official site link on that page you should be able to find out more information.
I can't tell you what's in the official site though, as I daren't go there - I'm trying to stay as spoiler free as possible!

I completed it on the xbox, in one sitting 'one night, of about 12 hours' hehe, I'm quite proud of myself, but yes in the bonus missions, you can get to play as Darth Vader (as the suited vader that is) on the Death Star.
