According to the Hilton (right next door) you can start to reserve rooms directly through them or their website. They might not be the same price as the OnePeak reserved block of rooms but there are still rooms available at the hotels next to the convention centre.

I booked there early but I check for friends from time to time and both times I checked the Hilton this week it says there are no rooms available for those dates.

Just my two credits (cents) here.
At CV, I stayed 8 long city blocks up the street to save on the rate.
I had taken the trolley so that really wasn't too bad.
At CVI, I stayed in the host hotel as a 501st Legion members and
that was worth the extra $$. But I'm under the belief that the sooner
you book, the more time I'll have in deciding on making reservations
elsewhere if need be. Being closer to the convention did have its
advantages. Celebrities, worldwide fans, restaurants, lounges and tons
of folks in the lobby sharing their stories.

I also recommend being as close to the con center as possible, if you can pay the extra money. It's worth a bit extra to be able to go back to your room, either for changing clothes, leaving stuff or simply just take a rest.

I'm committed to getting into the Anaheim Marriott. Right next to the convention, and a garage to keep my car out of the sun. I'm hoping it's ground zero for unofficial convention activities. Their official website has been telling me for a few weeks that they have nothing available. I just called today and the very nice lady said they haven't opened up for booking yet.

So I'm still optimistic. However, she said they haven't opened up the SWC block yet. Has anyone reserved a room there yet? Either as an individual or part of a group?

The Hilton and the Marriott were the first to sell out back in August.

Don't give up torjoreyri! Cancelations can occur between now and April.
Some fans opt for lower rates within walking distance of the convention
center and may cancel their room. And yes, a number of individuals have booked at the Anaheim
Marriott by constantly checking for any openings. I do know that
SW groups, like the 501st Legion and the Rebel Legion, waste no time
booking at the Hilton and Marriott back in August. Don't give up the
fight just yet because a number of those reservations were handled by
another booking agency and those hotels have probably blocked off
    portions of their rooms.
Book at another hotel and keep an eye open at the Marriott.
May good luck be with you!

Also it's worth checking through all available online booking sites. I could only book Tuesday-Monday on Hilton through the official site, but I arrive on Monday. First when I went through the bookings sites I couldn't find anything, then I remembered that I had an account on booking.com so I logged in, and all of a sudden I could find rooms at the Hilton. So now I'm booked Monday-Monday, but with two different bookings.

Thanks for the heads up with booking.com! I checked the availability out of curiosity and I managed to score the Hilton as well. Needless to say, I canceled the previous reservation I had for the Sheraton and switched over.

My question is did you get a better price than going through the celebration website?

I gave up trying the celebration site since just about everything has been sold out for a while (at least, the hotels that are right next to the convention center, which is what I'm looking for). I had to look elsewhere as that was no longer an option. For what it's worth, I just checked the site out of curiosity and both the Marriott and Hilton are no longer listed, so I can't even check the rates.

Since the 501st has decided where to have their BASH, I was kinda
wondering whether the Marriott was booked or not. Some SW attendees
were waiting for the announcement of the host hotel before making their
reservations. There is still 6 months to go yet and I hope there are some
    rooms left.

The Hilton and Marriott were announced as the host hotels and sold out more than a year ago.

I've seen the Hilton open up many times in the past few weeks. I'm not interested in it, so I don't know if it was for all 4 days, but it was listed on the official hotels page at starwarscelebration.com. Many hotels have come and gone, but the Marriott hasn't been available since I started checking daily in June.

I have stayed at the Anaheim Hilton twice and I really liked the place. I couldn't make a reservation during the first wave and so I am considering just getting a room from their site and sharing it (and splitting the cost) with a few people as I have done for the last few Celebrations. Anybody interested?

I've been looking at the Hilton (and other area hotels) over the past couple of months, and the Hilton is still turning up as available (it was $200 at one time, but it's up to $239 as of my writing this).

Huh...that's really odd. I'm still not seeing anything for the Hilton. I just checked the site now and this is what is currently showing up:

    Anabella
    Castle Inn & Suites
    Desert Palms
    Hampton Inn
    Hyatt Place
    Hyatt Regency
    Sheraton Park

As I said earlier, I currently have a reservation at the Hilton, but if I can get a cheaper rate going through onPeak, I'll go for it!

When I got my booking through booking.com I had a feeling that there were more price levels to choose from, while through onpeak you can only choose one. Now since booking.com gave me the price in Swedish crowns and I haven't converted it back into dollars I can't say if what's the cheapest.

We got our hotel for $89/night less than a mile from the con.
