haos. Despair. Corruption. Fear. Greed. These things were not supposed to stick in the minds of people after the close of a major war, but lately there had been enough to go around. The close of the Usean Continental War on September 19, 2006 was supposed to be a joyus occasion. The destruction of both Stonehenge and Megalith, the liberation of Usea, San Salvation and a host of other countries, the mighty death blow to the Erusean war machine, all perpetrated by heros of the air and land and sea, it was to be a momentus occasion that inspired all to live in peace

    It would not be.

A mere month after the close of hostilites, infighting and old conflicts re-emerged. Corrupt leaders who stepped into power bled people dry, beautiful and fertile farmlands and wildlands were ground under the feet of soldiers and tanks once more. Everyone lived in fear, did what they needed to survive.
ISAF saw their mistake, saw that things had become too destabilized for a vaccum, and stepped back into the western nations as police. For most countries it worked, but one hatred-soaked conflict would not stop no matter how many injunctions and roadblocks were staged.

The Republic of Amber and the Independent State of Ugallis had always been in a state of conflict of some sort since both nations were at one point a single land. Skirmishes and flash battles had always been the norm for the first quarter of the 20th centruy. Seeing what had happened and what was going on, negotiators and diplomats from around the world had converged and convinced the two states to not engage each other and broker a mutual peace.

Since that fateful day in 1921, the two had largely stayed away from each others throats, substituting pitched sports contests for conflict of arms, and by 2003 had reached a mutual understanding and even a partnership.
Then during the first months of 2004, the Erusean warmongers rolled through Usea, conquering all in their path.

After the liberation, new parties came to power within each country, radical centrist governments that held each other in contempt. Sparking their people to battle, the conflict was soon back on, this time with the destructive power of 20th centruy equipment.

ISAF peacekeepers, not used to dealing with open warfare, were quickly ovewhelmed and needed support. While the resolution to send ISAF member nations militaries into harms way, a secondary resolution was passed swiftly, and once again, the practicioners of one of the worlds oldest professions were sent into the maw of a warzone.

The Foreign Mercenary Legion was an offshoot of the Allied Foreign Mercenary Forces that were assembled during the Belkan war. Recognized by ISAF as a legitimate combatant, they provided oversight and regulation to an inherrently chaotic and maligned group of individuals, legitimizing their status as soldiers rather than outlaws in the public eye.
FML had the ability to send a task force anywhere in the world at a moments notice, and when ISAF came knocking and explained their situation, a solution was reached, and the troops were sent in.

The group was called the Mercenary Security Deployment, or Merc-Sec. Their standing orders were to attack ROA or ISU combatants when they engaged in any sort of military activity, but not engage civilian facilities, and above all safeguard the Peace-Keepers who were doing their upmost to broker a truce and treat the ill and wounded civilians.

The effect they had in the area was almost instantanious. Wherever the two nations militaries converged for battle, they soon found an Infantry Raider or Mobile Armor detachment had them in their sights, or that Mercenary fighters had found their way and would attack the first individual to shoot anything.

Seeing their success, ISAF member Nations realized that it would look very bad for the Mercenaries to have all the work and for themselves and not take part of the burden of this challenge. Soon reports came in that while the Mercenaries were indeed successful, they were being
