Hello folks, here's a fanfic of mine... pretty old, pretty short. Since it centers around several happenings somewhere in the background of an old RPG campaign, it might read a bit choppy (after all, the intended readership knew what had happened at other stages). Still hope you'll like it a bit! :)

    Sunni felt strange.
The nervous Army officer who had accompanied her to the Moff?s office hadn?t dared to meet her gaze, which made her feel even stranger, and now she was standing opposite the stocky Sector Governor, a huge wooden (?) desk between them. A hatchet-faced man in a gray uniform ? an ISB Investigation Specialist? ? stood near the door, hands behind his back.
?Miss Colt,? the Governor said with a brief bow of his head. ?I am pleased to meet you, but, well, you do not exactly look like a skilled Force user to me.?
    What!
    Sunni flushed red, mouth agape.
    Force user? Me? But-
?Now, you need not look so disgusted, Miss Colt. You may not remember any of it, but according to my reports, you have been a student of the Force before you fell into the hands of the Zygerian cartel. It is no reason to be ashamed, though. ? Please, take a seat.?
She sat down cautiously while the Moff followed suit; the purple velvet of the offered chair?s surface brushed against her thighs.
    Force user!
This couldn?t be true, could it? But then... it might explain her... hunches... her sensitivity to other people?s moods... and other curious incidents as well...
    But...
Sunni knew the Moff ought to have her killed if she truly was force-sensitive, and the fact that he had greeted her in such a ... friendly fashion felt... well, strange was the only fitting word.
She closed her eyes, trying to concentrate on the others? moods... but she didn?t sense anything dark or threatening coming from either the planetary governor or the man at the door, so she opened them again.
?You know why I asked you to meet me here in my offices??
Sunni sent the sharp-featured ISB man a cautious glance before answering; he returned her gaze openly, not even trying to hide his boredom, so she returned her attention to the Moff.
?I?m sorry, your Excellency,? she managed to say, ?I ? I don?t know. Really. ? Maybe it?s got something to do with... with the ISB??
?Miss Colt,? her host coolly said, ?you needn?t be afraid. The Specialist is absolutely loyal. I assure you that not a word of what we will be discussing will leave this room.?
She bit her lip, not sure about what to say.
?I invited you exactly because of your special abilities,? the Moff continued, observing her from calm green eyes. ?You needn?t fear prosecution. I, for my part, do not regard those abilities as a destabilizing societal factor... I just view them as a... qualification.? He shrugged. ?And then I am not exactly a friend of the Inquisition.?
    Sunni blanched.
    The Inquisition...
Something about that word struck a chord, but she couldn?t quite interpret the strange feeling accompanying it.
?Eh, your Excellency, er, well... even if it is as you say, I... I can?t remember anything of... the Force.?
?Oh, you will remember, Miss Colt.? A tight smile suddenly appeared on the governor?s face. ?Though it might take a while. You have been drugged by the slavers so you couldn?t harm them with your abilities, but the effects of the drug will hopefully wear off in another few days, and you should be able to use at least some of your abilities then... though I don?t know how much of your lost memories will return. ? It?s what Zygerian usually do.?
Sunni shook her head, sending curly hair flying.
    ?Your Excellency-?
    ?Yes??
?Your Excellency, why did you buy me from the Zygerian cartel??
The Moff guffawed, obviously amused by her naive question.
?Well, Miss Colt, slavers may be a thoroughly despicable bunch.... scum, to be precise. But Zygerian, as the most influential slaver?s ring in these parts, are known to sell... well... specialties from time to time, a

Not bad, not bad at all. You've got some great characters here, and a very intriguing situation. I find myself wanting to know more.

Edit: You might want to promote your story here:

Thank you for the flowers, Jane Jinn, and thank you for the link, that thread is great :).

Well, I used this whole setup as a starting point for a roleplaying campaign about three years ago. Everybody with the exception of the Moff is mine (he was mentioned in some WEG publication, and characterized in one sentence). Most of the folks are still around today, even after three years of campaigning. Good old Triffet joined my players' group not much later (they are so keen on recruiting... 'recruit before fight' is their motto), and he's still with them today, having become something like the 'most popular team member'. Don't ask me why...
Oh yes, and Sunni Colt goofed up big time. She's a darksider nowadays. I never got around to writing this up, however. Perhaps the events of this campaign would make another nice story (even though I suspect it would be more of a novel).

Sunni Colt (the character) went to the darkside? Oh, no. ;)

I rather like the Moff. Does he have a name?

His name is Tregar (the name is mentioned somewhere in the story, must be somewhere near the end, I think the doctor calls him thus). I used him quite extensively in my campaign.
My personal favorite is Triffet, he's such a bundle of neuroses...

Hey I saw this over in the OC fan club. Great start! I thought Major Triffet was a dead man.

Thanks, lordmaul13 :). I should have continued to write, but since it was the start for a campaign... well, sometimes it's pretty hard to keep track of what's happening in RPG campaigns. And well, yes, originally I had planned to do away with Triffet, but he just refused to comply. I mean, why has he been beefed up, anyway?

Yes, why has he been beefed up?

You're going to continue this story, right?

He was beefed up because the Moff needed somebody to test the new cybernetic enhancements on, and he never liked Triffet much, anyway. He planned to equip his bodyguards with the 'ware if everything worked out correctly, but it didn't. If you're familiar with the WEG rules for the Neuro-Saav cardio-vascular package, a goof-up during surgery can cause naughty side effects.

I'm afraid I won't continue this particular storyline... it's been 3 years and I don't think I'll get all the details together. Though Sunni's plunge into darkness and Triffet's commando-bashing action (he slapped a brash, loud-mouthed Alliance commando who had decided to pick on him... the commando was delivered straight to the nearest bacta tank) surely deserve to be written down. Well, maybe one day, who knows. I wrote another fanfic with other OCs playing in the immediate vicinity of this one, however... perhaps I'll polish and post it some day.
