It means he's sick and wants to be mothered.

That means you are supposed to check on him once in a while. But not while he is sleeping, and when he yells "Leave me **** **** alone" you do so. But you shouldn't take that seriously, and keep checking on him. Unless he is serious and wants to be left alone.

 

I made him his coffee, his breakfast and his lunch then sent him off to work. The fact I did all this nice stuff is countered by the fact I didn't make him stay home, isn't it?

 

Are you kidding, the man was supposed to take the time off, He is supposed to be chucking a sickie.

I suggest putting him in a soundproof room and leaving him there until he stops being sick. Make a giant water tube and feeding bowl like the ones for hamsters.
