Age difference Padme, Anakin

Isn't Padme a little to old for Anakin? In TPH she looks to be 13-18 and Anakin looks to be 6. Then in ATOC Anakin is like 16? and Padme looks to be like 25+.

 

Anakin is 9, Padme is 14. 5 Years. NO biggie.

My mistake I thought it was more like 9...which doesn't seem like much..but 16 and 25 is sorta weird.

A friend of mine also thought Anakin was a teenager in AOTC. He is actually 20 and Padme is 23. She is 25 at the time of he death. I read that she was 13 in TPM.

 

I'd take Padme if I was 14 and she was 24.

 

I would too..no doubt..but thats not reality of course.

I think the other thing that comes into account, being a jedi ages you. Think about it...

Jedi: "You can use the force! Be a Jedi!"
Guy: "That sounds cool."
Jedi: "Yeah, you protect the entire galaxy with just a lightsaber and you never get to do anything except that!"
Guy: "Wait...I can't like hang out with Jim and Bob and pick up power converters??"
Jedi: "Nope."
Guy: "That sucks, I think I'll pass and go have a beer...."
Jedi: "Too late!! Lets get you trained!"
Guy: "Ahhh nuts."

Seriously though, look at the larger picture. A couple hundred Jedi or so at that point against a galaxy. How many 16-20 year olds have the maturity of say Obi-Wan in the prequel? The training, seclusion, and focus on everything EXCEPT yourself probably spurs that pretty well.

As for the romance, I think it developed more along the lines of her being that last good looking thing he saw. Palp...Obi...Mace....Yoda.....yeah, I think Padme beats them all in the "looks" category for a guy that starts going through puberty. Also in TPM, Padme is the only one that's concerned with him being cold. Qui-Gon becomes the "dad" figure for his short stint cause he's got the big boy daddy voice.

And Anakin sits his butt down. Everything in TPM is a "starting implication" as Padme shows compassion to the kid. In the whole growing up off screen is the whole romance budding to the sexual tension in AOTC. Where Padme gets the affection from who knows....maybe she though his was a "cute kid" but now he has muscles...oooh.....I dunno. Maybe it was the Force saying, " Dude, I know I dealt you a raw deal with the whole prophecy of balance thing so uh....here, have fun and release some tension."

Padme "I love you Anakin!"
Anakin " OOOH, this Force guy wasn't kidding....score."

 

Hell, if I were 80, I'd take Padme at 14. I don't care what the difference is. Padme??? Wow

Uh, no. Statutory rape require the elder participant to be over 18 and the younger to be under the legal age of consent for the state in which it occurs.

If Padme was supposed to be 14 in TPM, why didn't they get a different actress to play the role instead of Natalie Portman??????


So, in TPM, a 14 year old is running the government of Naboo, debating in the Galactic Senate of the Republic, calling for Votes of No Confidence in the Supreme Chancellor, carrying a blaster and killing droids to liberate her planet from the Trade Federation, and not to mention, has a very extensive vocabulary?????????????????????????????????????????

I want to point out, Wester547, that I had been typing my previous message while you posted your message, so I had already thought of that very problem.

 

Does anybody have any proof, like from Lucas or someone, that actually states Padme's age in TPM?
