That should read “Luke balls his fist in anger and sadness for a moment, and then we’re off.”

Attack of the Clones is a live action movie. Did you see "AoTC" and mentally think "TCW" without realizing?

Or are you in fact deadpanning, that indeed there is no acting in AoTC and the characters are "drawings" and "animations"...

Incidentally, there was a running joke in Buffy the Vampire Slayer about Buffy not knowing how to pluralize 'nemesis', culminating in the Whedon-penned episode Conversations with Dead People where she finally learned it's 'nemeses'.

I refuse to believe that I accidentally made a joke that one of my nemeses made. Refuse!

Also, why did you have to know this? It could’ve flown under the radar. Now I’m compromised.

Adding to this, they never actually hugged in Rebels (and I don't count the jetpack ride on Concord Dawn). So I agree that the banter is what they would go to first.

Just to clarify, both the film AOTC and the series Ahsoka are both live action, so I am speaking of acting. Anakin and Padme were a new definition of stiff.

I’m still baffled by the assertion that the meeting between Sabine and Ezra was “frigid.” They are all smiles. Beaming, even.

Well I personally never said frigid. I just said they're both playing it cool. Which they are.

    Semi-frigid -- be accurate.

And it is, based on the cause and effect.

All smiles after 10 years? Wow!

I ranked this episode a bit lower than previous ones. I wasn’t crazy about the whole survival setup, and Thrawn looks and sounds like Ronald Reagan and I had flashbacks to watching the news as a kid. But the reunion made the episode for me.

And I thought it had the perfect amount of emotional resonance. Without the hug it would have been lacking, but I don’t like over-the-top Hobbit-movies-level emotion either.

I wasn’t referencing your post, actually.
Yes. And it’s big, genuine, impossible to contain, ear-to-ear smiles and a big, long hug. Yes, they don’t cry. But there’s a lot going on, character-wise, with Sabine that makes this the right acting choice. And I suspect the same with Ezra. Not to mention that I think they’re having difficulty believing/ processing it. A reunion can feel very surreal after a long time apart. This scene captures that perfectly. And it’s a big reason why I think he’s a great director.

Going with the LOTR comparisons, I imagine a Peter Jackson version of this scene would have both of them act like blubbering messes, hugging and crying in interminable slow motion, accompanied by mawkish, syrupy music, followed by an Enya soundtrack.

The last couple of episodes were very good, this one is no exception. I very much appreciate how it captures the "fantasy" feel of classic SW. There's a bit of LotR, a touch of dark crystal, i like it. I'm not a fan of having "witchcraft" in Star Wars but it adds some interesting elements and change the formula a bit, so i'm ok with it. Regarding the villains, Baylan and Shin are growing on me, as desillusioned jedi turned mercenary and his protégé. There's a sadness about Baylan, he's not your typical Bad Guy. And he has his own agenda..for the "greater good". Lots of story possibilities, i'm curious to know what's next!!

Lots of cool stuff to enjoy...the visuals, the statues, the chimaera, the rock turtle people, the night Troopers, Enoch, and obvisouly the arrival of Thrawn!

Ok now the not so good:
-So the witches on pereada know the jedi, the GFFA, they speak basic, they know about the whales path but they couldnt help Thrawn to get back to his Galaxy using the path? So how the other witches went there? And how do they communicate? It's really not clear how it all works, it really feels a bit confused at times, i'm not sure it really makes sense. Feels like Filoni didnt bother to make it 100% logical. And isnt it too convenient that one of Thrawn's allies happen to originate from the very same galaxy and planet he eventually got stranded on?
    - live action Thrawn seems ok BUT it's like the show doesnt bother to introduce him to those who dont watch cartoons or read SW Books. Remember his iconic 1st scene in heir to the empire? We didnt have any of that here, his taste for alien cultures and arts, how he analyses his opponents through it, his sherlock-like strategic skills, his military genius...too bad because i'm sure a lot of people met this character for the first time here and it's an introduction less striking that what i experienced in the 90s...
-minor stuff: the horse/dog stuff felt a bit too cartoony for my taste, and reminded me why i never watched rebels or clone wars ..

Anyway, despite my complaints it was really good Star Wars TV! 8/10!

Ahsoka very much falls into the 'fairytale' style of the Lucas era... which is why it naturally jives with me. This isn't to say that Star Wars can't be less fairytale like, and push the sci-fi elements as opposed to sci-fantasy... there's room enough in Star Wars for both, but for me Ahsoka 'connects' more to Lucas' version, and by virtue I connect more to it.

Agreed. Though I think Star Wars oscillates between the fairy-tale and historical fiction genres, rather than between fairy-tale and sci-fi. There really is very little of the franchise that's about science.

Indeed, a wonderful mix of fairy-tale-like fantasy, 30s adventure TV serials, western, samurai movies, peplum, WWII dogfights, shakespearian drama and greek tragedy. And a very light touch of sci-fi somehow the Mandalorian is more on the western side and Ahsoka on the fantasy side. Andor is on the spy/thriller side, which is quite new for SW. And BoBF/Kenobi are on...the never-again side :-D

Perhaps...perhaps not...part of the problem to me is i may have been too old when all the cartoon stuff saw the light and it felt like a different breed of SW. It's not a good or bad thing, it just wasnt for me, It always felt like a big retcon to me on many levels, an afterthought. Anyway...just my feeling about it.

It's ironic that Thrawn was originally introduced in Heir To the Empire which was more sci-fi and less fantasy than the OT, but he's actually making his live action debut in Ahsoka, one of the most fantasy leaning SW productions in years.
